Thanks Neal,
That info is welcome indeed if it comes off. One hopes it is at least in indication that GW/Fanatic now realise the problems with their current policy regarding the Oceanic region and sales.
Marconz- I think this policy will be for all of Oceania with NZ supplies trickling though GW Oz as the area co-ordinator (as they do now for core game supplies)
Of course, I shall continue to be skeptical about this until I see a revised official policy, but if it continues to fail me...well I'll be emailing you with some more orders L4!

Quote (Shadow Hunter @ 06 2003 Nov.,01:37) | Besides, having two designs would only look out of place. ?That's something you can get away with in an Ork army. ? | Actually, I think this adds a lot of character to an army. There is no reason that different units cant be allocated a new upgrade or whatever. Even have those units from a different Craftworld.
When you look at how long it takes for new models and upgrades to filter though modern armies (a squillionth of the size of these 40k armies we are talking about) you start to see that 'uniformity of equipment' issues is usually anything but!
I use different versions fo arty and Russ in my IG force, allocated to seperate batteries and companies so within subunits there is uniformity, but more variety on table.
But thats just IMHO of course

And after over 12 years of "Epicing", since SM1, I can say with confidence that G/W is as fickle as a school girl on prom night. |
Hmmm.... ok, use my usual solution and lets all get GW drunk, then we are guarrented to get the 'goods'.

Hi!
I know what you mean Markconz. I was real excited when the first FW models. After I got some and saw how fragile they where, I'm less enthusiastic. So I tend to my far less of them than I would metal ones.

Yeah, picking up a lightweight resin Titan just feels wrong somehow...
The resin travels rather poorly accross the world too, and being on the wrong end of a bad exchange rate where we are Markconz kinda makes them rather less value for money as well....

Quote (primarch @ 06 2003 Nov.,02:10) | So no epic in GW stores until summer 2004 eh? What does that mean for the release schedule afterwards? | I dunno. I asked that very thing on the playtest forum, and haven't received a reply yet.

I'll be standing-by Tas, for any and all eventualities ! And Tom, I'm well aware of the "Tactic" ... however so is the "enemy" ...

Yes, I have all my F/W models in separate units. ?For example, some of my IG Tank Cos. have two Plts. of G/W and one of F/W. ?But never mixed. ?The whole F/W "experiment" still is a conundrum to me ? ? Why would the same business produce the same thing in two different forms ? ?More detail vs. less durability, etc., etc. ? ? Quite illogical ... ? ? ?

Wow. I have to say this sounds bad.
Epic will go on sale at the end of January, in Europe at least. The rules will be sold as a rulebook on their own, supported by boxed sets and blister packs of miniatures (i.e. the same way that Warmaster works). A small selection of product *may* be available in stores, but the bulk of the range will be available only through mail order.
We'll be releasing three armies at first (Orks, Marines and Guard). The release will be staggered over three months, but the first month release will include all you need to field a playable army. We'll release the Eldar at the end of 2004, and then bring out roughly one army a year after that for Tyranids, Chaos, Necrons and Tau. Apart from new races, we'll also be adding new models to the existing armies on a regular basis.
Best regards,
Jervis Johnson Head Fanatic

I asked if he really meant they cut the schedule in half - 1 army /6 months or so to 1/year - and I'm waiting for a reply.
I really think that slow of a release could kill the possibility of an Epic resurgence and keep it limited to those of us who are die-hard fans.

Hi!
It's just poor coordination. I think FW would be more valuable if it did units and models that were not in the standard epic line. Sorta like special models not available elsewhere.
The redundancy in their line has made it unattractive to me to buy recently. I'm waiting for metal models to come out and buy those.

Urgh... yeah, I've been pretty positive overall about Epic:A, but this really is bad news- I knew Eldar wouldn't be out until the end of 2004, but 'one army a year'...nasty ...well, we can hope that we get a lot of great minis and support for each army as it appears I guess...
