There's a rumor floating around that FFG is considering an "epic-scale" (3mm, 6mm, or 10mm) Star Wars ground game. If GW redid epic, it would be to steal FFG's thunder. And I'm not sure it would work: compared to the Holy Trilogy, most gaming settings including even 40k is on par with fanfic.

Where can I find more data about this Star Wars ground game rumor ? :o

I've been looking. There was a discussion on the FFG X-wing forums a few weeks ago, and apparently it was announced earlier this year at a con but then they went radio silent. So we'll see. FFG rarely talks about new games until they're close to release.

And, yes, this would be great, great news if it was 6mm and similar in quality and canonicity to their X-wing minis. Me, I'm cautious about things like this. There's many a slip twixt the cup and the lip.

OK now with that said, there's no way that GW would ever partner with another gaming company and grant them the right to do a minis game. GW uses boxed sets to destroy potential competitors, not help capitalize them.

Very nice ! :)

Thank you wellspring for the details of the Star Wars rumor... Wait & see.

I think that there is ony one way for GW to re-release Epic : an Adeptus Titanicus one-shot box. It's my dream to see how GW could design imperial and rebel titans... It could be a beautiful box ! :D

Just a thought, but why not create our own 'Star Wars Codex' for E:A?

I agree, that seems like a far more realistic thing for them to do!
It wouldn't need any expansions, works as a 'filler game' and doesn't get in the way of their big 3 product lines.

In a way, it would be just like Dreadfleet & Warhammer Fantasy.

And they could go nuts on the models and scenery ;D
Would so buy it!

There really isn't Ny more data. It is rumor in the truest sense. Presumably someone from FF said something about them "considering" doing a ground based game at some point.

So may be they are thinking about it, maybe not. Maybe it will happen, maybe not.

Myself, given the success of x-wing, I have to assume they are planning more games like it. On June other hand, I don't know whether Disney now owning SW changes the equation. They have already messed around with SW video game development and Disney licenses are notoriously expensive, so who knows.

If it does ever come out in 6mm, I'm going to do exactly that for NetEpic. My Exiles project will mean I've had some practice.

Why does that make any difference? GW delisted lots of metal, now they are making some money from that unsold stock. None of those metal minis would be used in any epic rebirth, we already know they won't sell any more metal.

Err OK :)

I for one highly doubt epic will be re-released, and see this for exactly what it is - a repeat of the same unsubstantiated rumour it was last time. I just don't see how melting down metal minis has anything to do with the likeliness or otherwise of an epic rebirth like you imply. I'm not making any judgment on its significance, I simply am not able to figure out the connection at all. Or to put it another way - why would GW need the metal minis even if Epic was returning in some form?

Oh, that's right, thanks. The AT-STs are Star Wars Risk, aren't they?

Just ask me then! :D

The AT-AT is from the MicroMachines X-Ray Fleet range, the Crawler and Snowspeeder is the 'regular' MM range. The AT-ST's are from the Risk Star Wars Original Trilogy board game.

My point ... no Epic redux coming ... by my thinking ...

That would not work at all. Everybody knows that Star Wars took place a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
