Hi all

We have been using these GW Hill set with architect trees on top for the past couple of months. As the digital camera is back with the my girl from Iraq, I have taken the time to take some snaps. The trees come from a friend of mine, Glen, who make modeling terrain for a living. Each hill has about 10 trees on it and cost me about $14-16AU. For you foreign blokes that sweet FA in your currency. ?I had already purchased the hill sets from GW at whatever cost they where at the time. If you are interested in having some hills made PM and I will get you a quote from Glen. He is a great guy and can always do with more business. I would post a link to his site, unfortunately they have been having problems with it. Without further adue, the pics

This is one of six that I have with future terrain pieces being forrests.

Looks good. I also like the way it could be used for a lot of different things.

Hi!

Thats a good price for the whole thing. Much cheaper than what GW used to charge for something similar.

They are arrayed the way they are for two reasons. firstly it allow us to use the falt surcae on top og the GW hill to place units on. Secondly, the plastic bases that the infantry are on have a habit of sliding down hills. Positioning the trees around the feature allows the inf to stop behind something and stay in postion. I dont think they have enough wait in them. When I get some more GW hill sets and Glen has finished with the chemical bog pieces (pics to come, hold your horses), I will so some forested hills with only enough room for infantry.

Good looking stuff cal. I would perhaps put the trees in random pattern rather than in a circle. Bacause if there is patterns it looks more artificial.

Haven't you ever seen forests in Europe?!? ?After generations of people gathering wood in them, they all end up looking like they're an orchard (nice straight lines). ?A hilltop may not have enough soil (or water) to sustain a tree, so it grows a grassy meadow. ?Think a basalt knob.

Hi, spoke to Glynn this evening about quotes. At a rough each hill would cost about $25 US. If you where to use some teared foam, obviously alot less. The GW hills cost $44AU to purchase, for some reason I thought we paid less for them. Anyway drop him a line and have a chat. His email is fss.glynn@gmail.com He is a good bloke who is willing to make Epic scale terrain. More to follow when the chemical bogs are complete and the statue plinths. Hopefully in the next two weeks.

..these are some of the trees that I use for 6mm wargaming. They are bigger trees used for model Railroading. I cut the branches into smaller trees that will be to scale. I then take fender washers tape over the hole, apply 5 minute epoxy to about a group of 6 at a time. Stick the tree in the glue, and you have trees that can be moved about and are weighted down to where they don't fall over easily. I like to determine my woods outline by using colored felt-green is light woods-brown is heavy.

@ jb1 - Those are nice pics.  The trees are well done, though.  I actually do a set of bases for mounting trees on.  They irregularly shaped, coz I thought that there are not too many perfectly round things in nature.

Sorry it's not a real good quality pic.  I need to take a photography class I think.
