Post subject: | Home made Epic Buildings & Terrain |
Hi all, Recently I gained an interest in designing using computer programmes such as Google Sketch-up. After spending several hours designing many different things I turned my attention towards Epic Terrain mainly buildings. After a while a friend of mine saw what I had done and suggested that I used the designs to create actual terrain pieces to use during Games of Epic. When designing the buildings my initial thought was to build some form of buildings for Orks (These are what I play with) but after a while I settled on the idea of Imperial Guard buildings as these can then be used by any other race and claim they have been captured. The first building that I designed was the Helipad/Landing Pad. I then also created a Garage/Warehouse and a Barracks. The buildings themselves are simply made out of MDF Right, so if you've carried on reading to now your probably wanting to see some pictures. Well here they are! Here are the buildings before being assembled and painted. Imperial Barracks ![]() Imperial Garage ![]() Imperial Landing Pad ![]() Imperial Barracks with Troops ![]() Imperial Garage With Troops ![]() Imperial Landing Pad with Bomber ![]() Imperial Buildings With Troops ![]() Imperial Buildings Without Troops ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What do people think? Any ideas for future buildings or terrain? Also if people want some of these for themselves just let me know. |

Man, these look excellent im keen to make some of my own now! (Or get some off you!) Do you have any templates built up that you could share? And, can you tell me what thickness MDF you used? All my terrain is MDf, its gods own material... Im also assuming that the four small 'sticks' of MDF go inside the building corners and are used to hold up the slightly recessed roofs? |

I'm happy to sell you some if you want them. The MDF that is used is 3mm thick as it gives it a more solid structure than other MDF's in my opinion. It also allows you to engrave any designs using the laser cutter without the fear of cutting them in half. Yes you are correct about the four sticks, I wanted to make the roof a place where troops could be put so by using the indent they can then claim cover and it makes them look better! |
