What paint would you use/purchase if you have a large piece of styrofome terrain to paint? I've got a multiple part mountain piece (includes inside caverns) to paint and so need lots of grey paint. Citadel paints quite expensive and I ordered 5 pots from Malestrom Games several weeks ago, but I'm still waiting for it to arrive as they seem to only stock one pot at a time. Looking for alternative now, but unsure what I can use. I have a spray gun to use, but just no paint ![]() |

we used to use artist paints from the local cheap shop, cost around $2 for a big tube and just brush it on. Used to do a couple of colours for Hills, black, heavy wetbrush dark brown and then a light drybrush of light brown. I wouldnt bother with gw/p3 etc paints for something so large otherwise you will just be pouring $$$ away ![]() |

For terrain we go to the Works and get their ginormous £2.99 acrylic tubes. Good selection of colours, and tonnes for your pennies. Then for detail work you can use Workshop acrylics straight over the top. £5 for 400ml, compared to Games Workshop's £2.30 for 12ml means you get over fifteen times as much. http://www.theworks.co.uk/Acrylic-Paint ... 03170.html |

As long as it's water based paint it should be okay. |

I went down to Home Depot here in California with color samples of Beastial Brown, Graveyard Earth, and Bone White, and had them mix me a quart of each for $8 USD per in acrylic paint. I dont know if it would work in an airbrush, but I imagine it would. I also got a quart of the Beastial Brown in a paint-on primer just in case. That was a good move ![]() |

That's a really good idea. |

The Works paints would work a treat in a spray gun. They water down fine. |

Wasn't impressed with the Work's selection as there were only a few colours and wasn't keen on mixing them, but got a tube of 200ml black and white. However after mixing it and water giving me about 300ml, I was glad I'm not using GW paints. Luckily I have an air compressor too rather than relying on GW cans. So after 3hrs of continuous spray painting, I'm almost finished base painted my five part mountain (with interior caverns), a whole load of other walls and still mixed paint left over... and I havent used all the tubes either. They come off the hands suprisingly easier compared to GW stuff too. |
