I'm trying to paint round pipe work in my buildings... any tips how I should do this? So tempted just to splash a layer of chainmail across it and be do with it lol. |

Yep bang on some chainmail/boltgun etc and then cover it in a rust-like wash. I use Vallejo's Red Leather watered down to a wash. If it's too red bung on some Devlan mud. It's a very simple process that works well for me anyway. ![]() |

a base of tin bits, with some drybrushes of gunmetal and silver, then a black or devlan mud wash would also work. Tin bits is good at getting a dark-coppery base |

Id also recommend tin bitz + metal drybrush. Its a quick way to get a nice "used look". |

Indeed. A nice wash of bestial brown or even blazing orange can bring out some rusty tones as well. |

Thanks for the advice, but the washes didnt work ![]() I used chainmail and all the washes doesnt havent any effect on it. I did have an old pot of chestnut ink which worked fine in making it look very rusted, but not really what I wanted. Guess I'll have to use chainmail as a highlight rather than a base. |

![]() I had a pot of some metalic paint unlabelled and that had the outcome on the left. I used basic Boltgun metal on the right. What do people think? Which looks better? |

Both look good. The left looks more weathered. Is that what you're tying to achieve? |
