Not up to the standard of a lot of the stuff I see on this site, but players at the club liked them so figured it was worth sharing. The buildings above, ALL OF THEM, come with the boxed Monopoly City game from Hasbro. They come in bright colours but I got them to look like that in about 2 hours' worth of painting. A brand new Monopoly City game will cost around £20 or 30 USD but this being a mainstream game, ebay is packed with these going for a fourth or a fifth of that. Americans can also buy the buildings as a 'replacement part' for 3.5 USD directly from Hasbro @ http://www.hasbro.com/customer-service/ ... ?sku=01790 although I haven't tried that option yet. |

Interesting. Could you possibly post a photo with an epic model in as well to get a sense of the scale of how big they are? |

Bit late tonight for pictures but to give you an idea those bases are 80x40mm. Not 1/300 but closer to 1/450 in my opinion. Surprisingly, they look better than pure 1/300 buildings on the table in most cases as do you really want your blocks of flats to dwarf your Titan? ![]() |

Agreed, let's see comparison pics, but they are good looking buildings. |

So, I got over-eager and impatient and picked up a copy of Monopoly City on eBay. Just got it yesterday. I have to say, in my opinion, these buildings are FAR too small to stand on their own for 6mm terrain. I couldn't put together a picture for scale, sorry, but to give you an idea, most of the buildings (including ALL the taller buildings) have a footprint roughly the size of a plastic Epic rhino. HOWEVER, many of these pieces can be put together with other pieces to detail larger buildings. As an example, I'm using the old plastic Epic Space Marine (etc) building roofs and plasticard to make solid, 3d buildings, and I now have smoke stacks, water towers, and other roof details out of the Monopoly kit. Also the sports arena pieces make pretty cool Auxiliary Craft landing pads (again, you could maybe fit a plastic rhino onto the stadium's playing field, so that would be SMALL auxiliary craft, but still . . . ). Anyway, thought I'd drop my two cents in here, since there haven't been any pic updates and the pic there is looks so cool. So, for there you go. Hope it helps. ~Craig |

I think what it may be is Carlos is an 'old school' historicals chap in the main. There the buildings conform to ground scale not model scale. Those above if they are those dimensions would fit that mould for Epic which has a 'historical' ground scale/model scale split. Combine that with a common habit of playing area terrain using bases unlike the (at least among US players it seems more common) practice of using each building individually rather than the base it is mounted on. So I tend to lump ruins and buildings together into 'built up areas' (4+ infantry save, dangerous terrain for vehicles, blocks LoS, can't be seen over unless you pop up, etc, etc) in part as a hold over from spearhead and in part because it speeds things up no end. Still you can give your wife a game of monopoly now ![]() |

Oh, no need, Chris! I'm VERY excited about all the pieces, which I can easily amalgamate into larger buildings. Not sure about the breakdown by country, but I've definitely gotten into trouble, even locally, by making big elaborate buildings for stores and clubs and being annoyed by folks who then played them as "area terrain", shooting through walls where I didn't put windows and whatnot. ![]() I've always been very literal-minded where terrain is concerned. I think it comes from my background in set design. But detail-wise, these buildings are easily as cool as Carlos' picture shows, and I can't wait to incorporate them into larger structures. But you should have seen the wife's face when she saw me throw away the rest of the Monopoly game . . . |

OK, I HAVE to put this link in: http://www.tabletopquality.com/Site/Tabletop_Quality/Entries/2009/7/1_TTQ13Edit.html This is a podcast that a fellow gamer/worker of mine was a part of, and towards the middle of it is his Monopoly rant ![]() Also, I must say, the only version I own of Monopoly is the Duel Masters version, and only because I love DM and not Monopoly! lol |

Sorry for not posting pictures when I said I would but I've had a house move, a certification exam at work and a business trip all in the meantime. Yes, I use them as a baseplate of 'built-up-are' as I find the other way too finicky and prone to LoS arguments. Of course for those larger Epic buildings that actually cover a large area on their own then I'm fine with using them as individual pieces. |

Oh, no complaints at all, Carlos! Believe me, I understand busy. As a new father with two jobs . . . yeah, I totally get it ![]() I hadn't thought about the built up area terrain angle. You can't complain at all about the quality of the buildings, that's for sure. The rickity tenements, in particular are very nice. For those purposes, although not nearly as cheap as this many buildings for $7.00 or thereabouts, people might want to check out online stores that sell singles of Monsterpocalypse. Roughly the same scale as the Monopoly City buildings although with a bigger footprint, they mostly go for from $1 to $5 (not counting the super rare buildings that you won't really need anyway). They include nuclear powerplants, a whole slew of basic buildings, radar dishes, construction sites, oil refineries, etc. Just pry them off their bases (carefully, they use a powerful glue), and you're good to rebase them yourself or use them as is. Also, although they're onto like set 3 or 4 now, many of the molds are the exact same models in different colors. So if "Oil Refinery" is going for $6, look for "Sewage Treatment Plant" in another set, for example, and it might be cheaper (in this instance, it totally is). I got a very small scale train set "State Prison" model, and with the addition of a small =I= icon from my bits box and a $3 radar dish, I have a great Ordos headquarters with a 4"x4" footprint. Just another cool option, that'll work even better for you guys using this "built up area" terrain concept, I bet. |

Funny you mention that as I have about 30 Monpoc buildings that I have prised off their bases. The best method to do this is to put them in the freezer for a couple of hours and that will make the plastic harder and easier to snap off the base. Yes, really! My issue w/ Monpoc buildings is that for the most part they don't look very realistic, i.e. real-life buildings even glass ones aren't see through. Some of them are great though, for example the Shadow Sun Industries is a fantastic sci-fi building and I plan on using my Harbinger Comet Shards as Tyranid objective markers. |
