Probably very carefully.

Seriously, pinking shears perhaps?

Hot wire cutter and a cardboard template on polystyrene ceiling tiles. This would actually have been a pretty easy job had i replaced the cutter's batteries at the start...rather than when i only had 2 more bits left to cut :-\

I like the global rendering consider your idea of hot foam cutter for crenelations has stolen :) I'll reuse it for my fortress!

this is so fantastic
I can remember a scene in Episode 3 on such a Viaduct looks reall great

You may add a level on each of the big buildings
and build up an interior like a cathedral or Titan Hangar

cheers

Finally some proper sized terrain :D Very nice idea, though decorating could turn out to be one hell of a lot of work for such large pieces. Perhaps casting some kind of facade section that is easily reproduced and customized?

Ugh don't mention casting ??? not been a good week for bubbles in rubber ???

In the mean time ive made a sort of skirt plate from 1mm thick plastic sheet that sits round the rim of the pots, this gives (or will once ive made a lot of them) a ledge for units to move about on and will hopefully give something to build detail up off. the skirt can easily be lifted off, along with any attached detail, allowing the pots to still be easily stacked for storage.

Also considering cutting it down to 6 towers to make the board easier to use...hmmm

Holy frak! :o So this is what you're up to nowadays.

You're certainly not lacking in ambition (or patience ;) )

I look forward to the day when this is complete, it will be a magnificent sight! 8)

Classical/Mythological Hyperion not science fiction im afraid.

Made pretty much no progress on this im afraid, the sides of the viaduct are painted but aside from the the pots have been stacked up and put in a cupboard till i get the time :-[

Sorry to dig up and old thread, but did you ever get any further with this?

I'd love to get some shots of it for Epic: Hive, and may be tempted to make something of my own based on it.

Not significantly, i got some grey paint slapped onto the sides of the viaduct, the next stage was going to be constructing ledges, gantries and walkways between the towers. It's all stacked up at the back of a cupboard currently. I doubt that ill have time to continue work on it until the summer. If do anything photogenic with it ill let you know, what sort of time frame?

No major rush. I'm hoping to have an initial release of the suppliment finished by the summer, but the list development will likely take a lot longer, so it's not likely to be printed for quite a while after.

I'm definitely going to make my own version and use it as the basis of a "how to build hive terrain" section of the book.
