Looks promising. We are also building a ruined city. I hope I can post some pics when we are done. Cityfight looks always good in the epic scale. |

Brilliant idea, I would never have thought to use a plane to cut roads like this, well done. They look fantastic too. 57!!! At around 1' square that could cover an 11' x 5' gaming board with a couple still left over. Either that or you will have endless options for road/city block layouts ![]() When you store them, you may need to store them in stacks on a flat surface with a little weight on top of the stacks to prevent warping as 1.5mm MDF (the areas that have been planed to that depth) has a tendancy to warp if not stored correctly. Great work. |

Hena wrote: Thanks for kind words. This is all in preparation of my major project: Imperial City. I still lack the buildings or materials to build them. I do have 15 ruin sprues so should be able to construct ruined city at least. I had a game today (2nd game for an 40k veteran). Scions vs Imperial Guard. With my average rolls of 2 I got creamed. But here's couple of pics of the tiles in use, we had 4*3 in use so half the table was covered. I noticed that the spaces around the roads are perfect for epic. There is enough space to put down a 2nd ed building or ruins from ruin sprue with extra base space on them. A very nice looking city, but very pedestrian-unfriendly. ![]() Is there much in the fluff about 40k-era urban planning? |

I remember reading in some books about world's being design by architect's but after years of growth they just started building on top of old remains parts of the city and threw plans out the window due to rapid population increase. That's how slums get started on Hive's I guess. But that was a few BL books. But I'm sure like everything in 40k it can all be the same, different or anywhere in between depending on who you ask. |

I suppose that's one reason I ask. Many E40k cities I see don't look like hives, they look like parking lots, or maybe Tianamen square, without the square. Of course I'm particularly struck by these 'urban environments' because ASL accustomed me to very short Lines of Sight in cities... contrary to the dynamics of an E:A game, where it is almost impossible to skulk successfully. E.g. the skulking land raiders in Hena's picture above can be seen fairly easily by a unit that doubles or moves laterally to catch a diagonal shot.... not to mention that the comparative weakness of opp fire tends to encourage that kind of manuever. NB, I don't mean to be critical of the modeling, Hena -- these are great foundations for a city fight... it's just that I'm perplexed by how sparse many EA 'cities' seem to be. |
