After I saw Avatar, I had to try making some FLOATING ISLANDS in 6mm ... Image The Commissars have since been assigned to my next Project ... :D Image

These are pretty cool L4

In games how would LOS work with these?

I think they present some really unique opportunities:
- If they are represented as Higher up, could they block LOS for Aircraft?
- If they are lower, they could prevent LOS for Titans! - I can shoot your titan but you cannot shoot me.

If there were house rules for these things, I think that they could provide some very interesting game terrain.

Imagine Jump Packers and skimmers landing on these 'islands'!

Thanks Guys, The Commissars may be on a clandestine recon mission ... ;D And it has nothing to do with toilets ! :D As far as rules ... well, at the end of each turn roll the old G/W Scatter Dice ... and move them the distance and direction on the dice. If they hit each other ... that's as far as they go that turn. Or if they hit another object like a Building, or Titan ... then Roll for Damage. Based on whichever rule set you use. Or if the Scatter Die rolls a HIT then they'd stay where they are. Skimmers & Jump pack troops could land on them. Otherwise for simplicity ... they just stay where they are ... and block LOS as normal ... A Titan would gain some cover ...

Yes, my friends & I because of our ages 45-50+ years ... floaters have to do with our eyes !! :'( When you get our ages ... you'll know what I'm talking about !! ::) :P 8)

Yeah those things suck !! Hope by the time I get older, ( If that's possible !?!?) they might have some super-doper Star Trek kind'a fix and I'll be saved !!! :D

I just used a couple of terrain bases, I made, like you see the clear rod mounted on. Glued them bottom to bottom, so they looked kind'a "saucer" shaped. Superglued blue craft sand around the edges. Then Superglued Talus(rock debris) I got from Woodlands Scenics, on the bottom + different grades of flock, Course, Clumpsd, etc. used through out ...

Think I have to try and pick some up. What are they made from?

Just wondering if you did anything in the middle that is currently hidden from view? I'm thinking of making something similiar, but larger to display my Eldar (floating city like Laputa), so the middle bit will be more visible.
