Hi all,

I'm looking to get hold of some large (at least 600mm x 600mm, preferably 1000mm x 1000mm or larger) sheets of 1mm thickness styrene. It's for a modular city system I'm planning on putting together (I'm going to create a simple grid system and then create "tiles" with various terrain pieces that slot into holes in the base sheet). I've tried a couple of different sources without any luck. Can anyone recommend someone based in (or who will ship to) the UK?

There are tons of plastic suppliers in the Uk dude, no need to order from abroad.

Ive brought 1mm (1372mm x 660mm) sheet from MUTR (Middlesex uni teaching resources)’s public web store before, they don’t have much of a range thickness though (ive always been ordering other things from them as well).

Hey dude,

DOW make a high density blue foam called STMG, that comes in sheets 600mm wide, 2600mm long and is 30mm thick. This is what I use to make tiles with. Just do a local search on insulation providers and you will find one that works with DOW Foam. If you are lucky the will cut the sheet to length for you as well.

I popped down there in my lunchbreak (my office is on Moorgate) and bought five 620mmx680mm sheets for £15. Result! I can see myself going there regularly. Excellent range of foam, styrene, foamcore, etched brass, trees... that place is amazing.
