Could anyone be so kind to give me the dimensions on the FW road pieces? And perhaps a reference to look up or catalogue to look for...

Cheers,
Thomas

What? He just wants dimensions. No resin involved. Yet.

Ah. Yes, of course. The square sections are 80mm on edge; the 'straights' are 80 x 160mm

Cheers, thought they looked about 100x200mm so many thanks!

And yes, there will be resin involved!

I've have commissioned myself to make some terrain pieces for a local resin caster while I'm unemployed, so I hope to churn out some decent stuff, starting with things I need for my own terrain projects but resembling some of the old FW stuff. Halfway done a monolith and are sketching some imperial plaques and now roads...

That's also why I'm looking for source material, like which FW catalogue to look for on eBay.

I remember that some time ago someone posted the plastruct or evergreen references needed to build some Epic FW roads. Unfortunately, I could not find the refs anymore :|

That could be really useful, although I'm not looking to copy directly.

I have some Slater sheets that would do well for paving, and I reckon legally it won't be a problem since it's a generic product, but would like to hear from you guys if you think otherwise?

Yen and I did a road experiment once, in the emulate-Forge-World spirit. It was quite straightforward, but I could never figure out how to replicate their road surface texture. We settled on some cork sheet that had been sprayed with Citadel Rough Spray.

I think you can reproduce the road surface with the plastruct sheet Asphalt or Concrete (PS165 or PS166) in Plastruct catalog.
Gutter is surely a deep channel (UFS-2).
Border of Pavement can be done with some plain square tube

The only thing I can't find in this catalog is the sidewalk textured sheet that reproduces the FW one.

Edit: some interesting embossed plasticard sheets in this slatersplastikard pdf.

I used a scribing tool for the lines on the sidewalk.

Edit - and thanks for the info about the Plastruct sheets! I never noticed those, even being in possession of their mighty catalog.

Thanks guys!

I was gonna make the surface from model train road, basically textured film, the pavement from a slater sheet and do the border with gs. Now I might have to rethink some of it, but again I'm not making replicas, so...

Mate,

Use wet and dry sand paper of a fine grade and you will hit the mark. We did it here a few years ago for my city scape terrain boards. Also we drilled at even intervals and inseted pins to use the heads as catseyes.

Cheers
Aaron
