Looks great. The bunker complex at the center of the board is particularly impressive! |

I'll be honest, I have never personally been a fan of hex terrain boards. ... However, if there was ever a board that could convert me, it would be yours as it looks absolutely superb! Great work ![]() I agree with the others that the bunker section in the centre looks fantastic, but for me it's also those really sweet looking gothic ruins tiles and the awesome lava river (love the bridge over it). Great looking gaming terrain and table, thanks very much for sharing. My hardened resolve against hex tiles just diminished a noticable amount. Carl Dropship |

Oh my good grief. The modular hills, the river / road flexibility, the way you've got little hexes meshing into the big ones - it's absolutely godly. I'm sick of playing on flocked chipboard and I've been wanting to make a modular board for a long while. Your beautiful board's convinced me to go hex, although I doubt I'll get mine anything close to yours! : D EDiT> Have you tried the vertical faces painted green / did it look awful? Brown seems to make the hex edges stand out a little, at least on the pictures! |

Utterly beautiful ![]() ![]() have to ask the main bunker in the middle of the defense lines, is it scratch built or from somewhere? |

Thanks guys! This has been a multi step project. As usual I started out with an embryo of an idea that kind of morphed a bit out of proportion. I had gotten fed up with our battlefields always looking the same. Especially our pre cast hills annoyed me, so I started out with making a lot of hexagonal hills that could be assembled in any way. I had also gotten tired of the minis sliding on the hills, so I made them terraced. Then I wanted to expand our collection of forests and obstacles (the lave stream) and found that I didn´t have the energy to do 4x4 inch hexagons, so I made blocks of three instead. At that point I thought, hell why not cover the whole board while I´m at it. So I made the larger 12 in hexagons, but had to also cut out smaller pieces to make the small hexagons fit to the large ones. A good suggestion is of course to paint the edges bordering to grass green. I should have thought of that! The central fortress is all made up of Daemonscape resin models that I ordered on-line, painted up and placed on a flat grass area. Well, almost all of the pieces. The very central bunker was ordered from a polish company Wargamer. Now, the real super-bonus of modular terrain is of course the versatility and endless possibilities of recombination (I´m a molecular biologist so I tend to drift towards these kinds of solutions). The terrain is also very easy to store. The down sides are the unavoidable cracks between the pieces. Annoying, but a trade off in this case. Cheers! /j |

I just had to add one more "Nice work" comment. I especially like the craters inside the blown out buildings! Too often I see ruined bldgs with little or no evidence of what destroyed them on the insides--which I understand can sometimes be masked by the ravages of time/erosion/further battle, but these certainly look like they were taken out from an orbital barrage! Very COOL! |
