On the cover of Swordwind...

Based on the distance of the wraithgate in relation to the Phantom titan... is the gate the same height as the titan or even larger?

I'm thinking about creating one of these (in Epic scale of course) with green stuff mountains on each side like the image.

In your opinion what would be the best materials for this type of project?

- wood
- foamcore
- styrene
- something else?

I think the spine of each side of it could be accomplished with Eldar bits... like the 40k Guardian antenna-vanes.

Regards,
Brent

I want to make one too.

I was thinking of using spines from a couple of model dinosaur skeleton as the main uprights (with some adjustments).

I think for my first attempt at this is going to use foam core and Eldar bits.  If you find a dinosaur model that would work let me know the name of the kit.  I'll post pics when I have something to show.

Semjan has a pretty good wraithgate printed in blue plastic. It's in my molding queue now.

Yeah, but that's just a small wraithgate, the cover shot shows the Gate of Vaul, which played a big role in the fight against the feral ork horde.

There are two way to approach making one: 1) make it a terrain piece like Battlespace is talking about, in which case it can be huge; or 2) make it a very large objective, in which case it might be just big enough to fit a phantom titan through. I'm going the second route with my planned Gate of Vaul, because that's the way the titan list uses it.

Well, a year and a half later since I made this original post and I'm now building my Wraithgate. I took a break from Epic but now some local players are getting into it. I should have mine done in a week. It's assembled but I need to paint it.

I'll post pictures... mine is also just big enough for the Phantom titan to fit underneath it so just a large objective. It stands 5 1/2 inches at the tallest point and has the mountains on each side.

Here is a sneak peak of the wraithgate before it is painted next to a Titan for scale. The gate itself is not glued in place yet (I'll paint it first). I used foam core for the gate, foam for the mountains, styrene strips all over the gate plus bits from a 40k Wraithlord and War Walker.

I probably should of used more ovals instead of circles... but I've seen circles in Eldar icons (yin/yang) and in runes.

I'll post pictures next weekend after it is painted. I plan to paint a Biel-Tan icon on the floor but not sure if I can pull it off.
