We felt that the buildings that came with the original boxed set were a bit on the cheap side apart from the very nice roof pieces. In order to be able to fight an inner city battle we also needed lots more buildings, most importantly of different heights. To remedy this situation we came up with a sturdy cardboard solution that allowed variation in the height of the buildings. The design is also noncommittal enough to allow them being used in a WWII/ColdWar or any other SciFi setting. Check out the many possible variations with just 3 pieces, then imagine having a whole load of them? ![]() |

Any chance that we can get a pattern for the buildings? And how did you paint them? They look textured. |

(pixelgeek @ Sep. 04 2007,19:40) QUOTE Any chance that we can get a pattern for the buildings? And how did you paint them? They look textured. Do you mean template by pattern? They were given a grey basecoat (airbrush, saves a lot of time/hassle when you do a whole lot), lightly inked dark/black, and finally drybrushed with white. The windows were done right at the end with a stencil cut out of thin plastic. |

this is a similar concept applied to road and inner city tiles. looks a bit bland without the park and plaza pieces we're still going to make. not to mention the ruins that can replace the building models after a gargant with a buzz saw arm or a warp missile have passed by.... pics soon. ![]() |
