Hi all,

After looking at the Imperial trench system from Forgeworld,

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/trenches.htm

I thought it would be great project to do but in epic scale. So I was wondering if anyone made their own or have pictures of the actual Forgeworld Imperial trench unassembled and layout since it would make it easier to make a template.  Otherwise, I have to make it from scratch.

I have a crud load of wine bottle corks (!) which I cut into halves and use as add-hoc trenches and fortifications.  works quite well

How does that work? I'm trying to picture it - do you cut them into quarters?

Hey daemonknight, it's not quite the new FW trenches but it's close - Chroma's defense lines and bunkers.

Yeah duz holger, your link in your sig need to be fix.  However I did manage to get my way to your showcase.  Pretty awesome stuff!

ALso thanks Pipboy for directing me to Chroma's defense lines

One of the things I worry is if I make the trench too deep or too narrow, my Death korps will be stuck!!!

halves and or quarters.  Works very well for campaigns where you wan the fortifications to grow during the game.  Its very easy to add bits and change them as you go

I have made collecting the precursor materials a hobby in itself!  :D

I've made my sieger trenches slightly differently.

As you get 500mm of trench and 10 infantry per company, I've made 10  50mm foxhole/trenches modelled after the ones in the book 15 hours (Guard getting done in by high command and Orks). Depth varies but is typically enough for a square base (I hope, I didn't have a reference handy when making them here - what size are the square bases?).

One because I like the more modern look, and two because it is easier to fit around terrain than strips. You need a lot of main trenches and then scenic comms trenches to get a decent looking trench system. This way you can 'scatter' the trenches in and around the bunkers and emplacements and give a good image of a dug in infantry company.

I might make some big scenic trench and bunker works as a terrain piece in the future, but that would need a clear area of table to deploy.

Thanks for the link suggestion.

Do any other trench fans here think the 500mm of trenches should be re-worded to 'trenches for 10 infantry stands (or similar)' to allow peoples creative juices full flow (with useless but scenic comm's trenches, MG nests etc etc)?
