I'd say that would look reeeeally cool.

Separate thought - are you going to try the casting trick I sent you?

The prints arrived. The Zombie Robot stuff looks decent. The Armageddon enclosure does not (you can refer to that topic for further details).

The order of molding and casting is as follows:
1) Armageddon enclosure
2) Medusa cannon
3) Zombie Euro Robot Symbol emitter tips with greater detail
4) Zombie Robot control point
5) Zombie Robot summoning core
6) Artillery cannon
7) In-line flak cannons
8) The rest of the Zombie Robot scenery

I don't expect substantive progress until Monday. Yen and I are frolicking tonight (dinner with friends), and I keep Bella from Friday to Sunday.

I've got Rhino 3D, it'll build in whatever format file you might want to print with, I'm also a fairly good 3D modelmaker so if you email some sketches of what you want I'll bash up a few.

SLA files are the usual 3D printable format.

Get Smooth-On 626 resin (it's the transparent kind).
Get Smooth-On green dye.
Mix the 'right amount' of green dye into the resin, enough for a transluscent green result
"Wire up" a mold with an LED.
Make the cast with the green tinted resin.
Paint the "stoney" sides dark grey.
Plug in, voila! An internal glow.

Paint the sides silver first, then stony colour, that usually prevents light-bleed through the corners and/or joints. Preferably with a "real" metallic silver, a paint with metal powder in it.

That's clever. I shall keep that in mind when I try my glowy stuff.

Here's a picture from the print job. Some of these are already partially encased in silicon:

Wow. For my purposes the enclosure looks very good. Never mind the lack of rivets :)

Gothic window strip - making casts.
Emitter tip - mold in refinement, no good casts yet.
Control point tower and floaty top - second half poured.
Control point base and thingies - first half poured.
Pylons - not started.
Gauss turrets - not started.
Summoning core (small) - not started.
Summoning core (big) - not started. For some reason, AcuCast made 3 sets of these for me. On one set I will expand the pinning holes to help with casting (small holes in patterns make small pieces of silicon that tear off easily).

Hydra style; 2 barrels, one above the other, with a plug-on radar for the side.
