Thanks guys.

I believe the "white" ruin was used by starting out with a true brown and olive. Desert Yellow is mixed into it until you get a pure desert yellow. Then add bone into the yellow to get it progressively lighter.

It took me a while to figure out the formula and no two of them will ever turn out the same.

Thanks Mark! The floors are made of model railway plasticard.

I'll have to pick up some. I like the looks of it for ruins better than normal plasticard.

I decided to do something a little different this time. Given the history of the Armageddon world (that's now on it's third war!) I thought there must be a lot of buildings completely demolished.

I thought it would be cool to portray one of these forgotten buildings along with a native to that campaign, a rusted out Armageddon Basilisk long left behind by the retreating (or advancing) Imperial force.

I took quite a few pics I hope you don't mind.

*EDIT* Red really looks horrible on my camera!

Thank you for the compliments. Ironically one of the reasons I set out to do this piece is because I also thought it would be something quick to do. It ended up taking me a week of spare time to build and paint.

*EDIT* Red really looks horrible on my camera!

Believe it or not but the gap in your white background as well as the blue in the front of the shot may be distorting your colour balance.

The red also appears to have a bit of blue in it and next to the grey it lacks some contrast.

Are you using an image editor or something like Picassa to edit the colour curves on the photos? You can edit the curves to take into account some of the distortion and also pump the red up a bit.

Probably overkill for these types of photos though :-)

Hi Malaki

Sorry to dredge this up, but this terrain is so good I had to ask a few questions!

How big is that piece with the Basilisk? I love that one in particular as it shows how buildings can work as area terrain rather than just structures, and also those craters. So two questions:

1)What are the dimensions? I'm planning some terrain atm and wondering how big is too big.

2)Are those craters scratch-built or bought? They look a bit like the plastruct craters I've seen around a few times.

Cheers!

Any more to show? I'm always happy to see terrain pics so keep the ruins coming!

And a question - how did you make the barbed wire? I'm guessing it's fuse wire bent round a pen or something but as I'm about to make some myself I'd be happy to hear how this was done.
