I have been working on some door and window designs.

I would love to hear your thoughts on these. I will be using these for making buildings from scratch.

Good idea! I usually press mould existing models for e.g. doors, but this would probably look a lot better. My only critique would be that the designs look a bit flat and lack detail. Also, is there a specific reason as to why you chose square shapes? Why not follow the doors? Incidentally, being a bits design, I think the variation in basic shape could be greater too.

What do you mean by "follow the doors"?

What kinds of shapes would you like to see? Maybe some half circles? Is that what you mean?

Thanks for the input.

Reading through the post I can see your confusion. First of all, if you include the windowy parts, you do have non squarish designs already. What I meant about follow the door was to keep the door/shutter/Whatever as a stand alone component, without the surrounding wall.

Maybe I'm a bit daft, but the doors and windows don't include walls. Just the basic framework of a door.

Here are a few pictures of some doors with a bit more detail. I like the one on the right, personally. I think the one on the left is a bit too busy. Maybe I need to split the difference or something. Is this what you were thinking Nitpick?

Thanks again for the input.

Those new ones look very good, I agree, the right one is best. What you call basic framework was what I referred to as wall. Not saying it is necessarily wrong to do it your way. Merely suggesting the framework follows the basic shape of the door, since I find it more aesthetic. Nice nonetheless.

I got some of my designs printed. I wanted to post some pictures to see if the real thing is better or worse. After seeing these, I'm not sure how much more detail could be added at this scale? I might try a few designs with more detail just to see what they look like, though.

More pictures can be found on my blog. http://gamingandshooting.blogspot.com/2014/08/6mm-building-and-accessories.html

Thanks again for your comments.

I suppose its hard to tell how much detail you can add before painting them. Paints and washes will make details pop. I think you could add lots. Just look at the various forum ware initiatives and kickstarters already in motion.
