Hi Lead, The textured roof was used to break up what would be a very dull and bland surface. I wanted some sort of detail to make the model stand out a bit more.
I wanted to keep the roof sections fairly basic and detail free for a number of reasons that Bissler has already pointed out. Unfortuantly, I am unable to afford the technology larger business's invest in to produce their moulds and also for me less detail results in fewer minor defects etc. So I'm making a basic building, with less detail, hence lower costs. They are left for people to customise to suit their needs as not everyone wants clutter on roof which doesn't allow positioning of figures etc. I was going to produce vents etc in the future that people can glue down to customise their scenery if they didn't want to make their own.
