Contact Otterman about gothic windows and doors that would fit those buildings. There is no IP on gothic design and the building is obviously original (you've got pics to prove it!). Making a master with those types of windows and doors is sure to make the final product that much more appealing.

I wasn't aware those had been finished... Thanks for the heads up!

I got a very nice pack of assorted windows and stuff. Very nice Otterware as usual. I think he wanted to perfect them more tho.

@ Angel_of_Caliban, did you get the windows from otterman or somewhere else.
I need some for my buildings, but am coming up with nothing.

I got the windows from the Otter. But they were "Proto types" I believe. Not sure he's ready/happy with them enough yet. I think there nice. My plan is to throw then on some plastic card and add some ruins. I just don't think I can make nice looking Whole buildings. I'll wait for either Sema, SG or Otter to finished that. lol!

Heya SG, were you the one I pulled those molds out of storage for? I have a few samples cast, if so.

Wow! It's pretty snazzy. How does it stack up next to the gothic arched window?

This project makes me realize that Art History wasn't a total waste. I now know the major features and layout of a Gothic cathedral. Bet my Professor wasn't expecting that!

I'm thinking 120mm wide and around 200mm long for this sucker. Still in the concept sketch phase, though.

Mosc, could you give me the dimensions of the FW Cathedral, perhaps?

If I were to make a Gothic Cathedral, how would people prefer it to be constructed?

1) One piece cast, with seperate flying butresses if included. Maximum cost, minimum prep time. No versatility.

2) Several subassemblies, towers, main cross-sections, endcaps, etc. Moderate cost, moderate prep time. possibly including handmaking a box of some sort to save resin on the interior. Good versatility for other uses.

3) Exterior panels: Minimum cost, maximum prep. Interior structure would almost certainly be neccessary. Variable versatility depending on how the panels were broken down. It would also be a bloody pain to design, though not undoable.

More info on 2 and 3. One is pretty much already done. Explain the difference on 2 and 3.

2) The thought was to have:

a) A section with a flat roof and balastrude around 40x20mm in area and 60mm high. It would have a single gothic arched window courtesy of O-Man. This would be used as the aisle, on either side of the nave. It would also be useful as the core of any tall, square structure, when placed back to back.

b&c) Two sections as above, but with one end detailed (L or R), for use as the ends of the aisles or as corners of larger structures

d) A 40x60x55mm section with a peaked roof and square window on either side. This would be the visible structure of the nave; the concealed part would need to be handbuilt out of plasticard, foamboard, or similar, to save on resin. This would also be usable as part of a small chapel, etc. Could be made as only 40x30x55, and need to be placed back to back for the nave.

e) A section around 40x60x55 with two gothic arched windows and some detailing on the sides, to be used as the lower half of the "east" end of the cathedral, and for the lower half of the transepts. Would possibly need to be broken into two components, one for the transepts and one for the "east" end, due to differing detail needed.

f) Similar, but with doors, for the "West" end. No side detailing due to presence of tower

g) A section 40x60x55 with a peaked roof, a rosette window similar to the one shown earlier in the thread, and doors on either side, for the top of the 'East' end and transepts.

h) As above, but with no side detailing, for the 'West' end.

i) 40x40x??? Tower sections. One or two components, to flank the doors on the 'West' end. Probably with tall windows, either gothic or conventional arched towards the bottom, and rosette windows near the top. I'd like to make htem able to do a Censorium, style tower, but need to think on the feasability.

j) section with roof detail only for the crossing of the nave and transept. 60x60x55mm, only 30mm high a possibility, considering below that would be a solid block of undetailed resin.

3) would be the same, but instead of blocks, with panels a few mm thick that would need to be assembled into the above components. Less resin, more fuss on hte design end, possibly fewer individual components.

So 2 is more of a building blocks pre-done vibe while 3 is just walls and stuff with more possibility?

I dare say 3, then you can make ruins...
