at the age of 9 me and a friend found a way to attach a steel wire from the 3d floor of my house to the far side of a car park (that oddly never had any cars in it) that was next to my house, the wire was about 50m I think, so over that weekend we got through all of our model aircraft, firstly by not using a good way to get the models to slide down the wire so they'd fall off and break, then when we found a way for them to slide down the wire well we naturally sore that the models should be on fire and/or explode.
so over the next 2 years a lot of weekends were spent first making different kinds of models then working out more and more complex ways of destroying them or making the models go down the wire faster and hit the brick wall at the end, I remember the pleasing feeling when it worked well.
It only ended when my family had to move, looking back on it I’m amazed that we got away with it, I’m just thinking about the amount of noise we must have made, oh well the only thing we didn’t do is take photos or try to record our  adventures

i would like to see the result but you dont need starships you could use shuttle craft the big starcraft would not land ordinary on a planet and if they crash on one they would make a crater at least the size of the Loma Priator crater that wiped out the dinosaurs but shuttle, landing or other serfis to orbit craft would be a much more manageable size

Well, I simply don't think that starships crash the same way asteroids do. I don't want a huge crater as a field to play on, but I don't think that it'd have to look that way to be believable.

If a starship crashed, the crew would certainly do whatever they can to get down to the ground alive. They'd have all kinds of thrusters and engines to slow down their descent, and even if the ship was torn apart upon touching the ground, I don't think it'd mean that the whole thing was scattered to tiny bits.

Also, a starship could be forgotten there... So why have something like a "fresh" impact crater? Why not something like parts of a huge spacehip, grown with alien plants and forming dunes behind them? That'd certainly be a treasure to fight for and you could have all the freedom you want when designing the board.

It's all just ideas... And a Cobra class destroyer might still be a little too big. But it's sooo intriguing ;)

yes but think of the full (atomic full) and ad the falling masse plus any ammo it would be around 3 to 500 gigaton going off i a huge bang (think of alien 4 extendet edition)

Good:
this nice deviantArt scale chart for BFG ships

Bad:
this site about spaceship sizes in general.

Hence WR23.
