Well to get us back on track, heres a small base with trees to represent woods. It needs some more drybrushing. Im not very happy with it, but its easy to make and I guess it could work. What do you guys think? Any simple things I could do to make it look better?

Personaly I think Goblin green is too vibrant to use for terrain. Camo green is a better choice if you're going with GW paints, but there a re other even better choices if you look into other paint ranges. Generally speaking more subdued color gives a better realism effect IMO. Then again that is of course a matter of opinion :)

In terms of modelling you could add some small rocks made from pebbles ot dome dead logs, and fallen trees made from twigs. Adding lumps of moss can give the impression of bushes and undergrowth. You could also vary the level of the terrain a bit by adding some small slopes from putty or carved polystyrene. It basically comes down to how much space you want to leave to place models on. If this is a strict gaming piece then you might want to limit the ammount of "ornaments"

While the old gobbo green isn't the most realistic color in the world it definitely matches the color on your bases nicely.

The yellow drybrushing was done well too.
