As some may know I'm converting a bunch of marines for my new Epic Dark Angles army. Terminators and Tactical marines are fairly straightforward but what about Asssault Marines? How are these armed in 40k? Looking at the Online ftore it looks as though the captains can be armed with some sort of axes and shields besides the standard boltpistol/chainsword combo. What I'd like to know is what other sort of combos is possible and which you think should be in a standard squad. I'm only doing 1 Assault formation but that's still 20 models to convert. The more variation the better ? ![]() |

Captains can have Wargear from the Space Marine armoury therefore you have more options. If I remember ordinary marines use bolt pistols and chainswords. Alas I have lent out my Space Marine Codex with all the details. |

Assault marines are mostly armed with Chainswords and Boltpistols. However you could have some marines be armed with a flamer/plasma gun/melta gun...well some Chapters do it like that. Sergeants armed with variaty of goodies such as power weapons, power fists, lightening claws, plasma pistols etc etc. So the basic assault marine is armed with a close combat weapons (Chainsword/axe) and bolt pistols. Some of them are armed with Plasma pistols. Perhaps add meltabombs to some of the marines. |

Excellent. I'll replace some more swords with axes then. Converting bolt pistols to plasma pistols shouldn't be too difficult either. I'm not too sure about Meltabombs. Although I think it would look really cool I'm afraid you wouldn't see them very easily in Epic scale anyway. They're the size of a standard grenade right? About the heavy weapons: Would it be totally unheard of to have say one melta or flamer per 10 assault marines in a Dark Angles army? I would really like to do these... ![]() |

Meltabombs are somewhat bigger than grenades and have a handle on which to hold them. |

Does someone have a pic of a Melta Bomb next to a standard Marine? |

http://uk.games-workshop.com/spacemarin ... allery/23/ Look at the marine next (right) to the sergeant, right next to his pistol you can see his Meltabomb |

Ah, excellent. Thanks. I think it should be possible to do a little something. Perhaps not a marine throwing it (Difficult to get the right sense of movement as the Assault Marine looks a bit stiff) but I could always add some to the belt or something. |
