Seekermeng, I'm afraid I have to disappoint you. Your Night Hunters might have an interesting background, but in all respect to the official fluff, they cannot exist. Why every one and his mother keeps saying "my chaoter was founded shortly before the heresy" Before the Heresy there were 20 First Founding Legions. Nothing more. Your Night Hunters could have been founded AFTER the Heresy, or be a "splinter faction" of the original Night Lords, who did not turn to Chaos and left before the NL went rampage. However, considering the Imperial policy, they would be quickly exterminated instead of being allowed to fight for the Emperor. When most of their mates have betrayed, they could betray too. Imperium never, ever would use a geneseed of a Traitor Legion in founding a new Chapter. They could have, however, used some geneseed of Salamanders, Raven Guard and prob Dark Angels in their creation, as these three show the traits that are most comparable to your Chapter. It might be, that the Chapter was trained and equipped exclusively to fight the Night Lords.
Then your idea for mutation of their Occulobe. Occulobe does not improve eyesight. It does only enable the Marines to respond to the eyesight-improving mental and chemical conditioning correctly. Besides, Marines do see in darkness, especially when they wear Powered Armour, which has some night-vision and light amplification gadgets built in.

Maybe it REALLY was founded before the Heresy...
Do you really think the Imperium is telling you the truth!

Maybe I mis-stated this earlier. My idea is that the roots of this chapter pre-date the heresy. They were created, as I said, to deal with a specific potential threat.?At the time of the heresy they were still fledgling. Not so much an official chapter more a potential chapter. If they had had the chance to face the night lords and defeat them they would have replaced them. All nice and secret like. I'm not sure how the other marine chapters would react if they knew the emporer was planning to wipe out a chapter. ?The night lords were rogue prior to the heresy. It was less their genetic make up and more their leadership that created the situation. ? I'm not sure you can even now consider them a chaos chapter,?In the truest sense The Occulobe allows the growth of a space marines eyes to be controlled and tuned. ?The mutation does not give the Hunters their night vision, it just causes the green glow and allows them a bit more dark sensitivity. ?It's technology and evironmental development that lets them see in the dark. ?They specialize in it

I must old my hand up and say I'm a Blood Angel man myself. I've almost made the entire 5th Company in 40k, however I do regret going with a named chapter and I'm in the process of starting a new chapter.
I haven't worked out all the fluff yet.
They will be linked to my Blood Angels thou...
I'm gonna try and write a book for it. Still working on the background first.
oh! the joy of finally getting it all on paper and out of my head... the voices................................

I think I have a terrible surprise in store for the people here. My next Chapter will probably break most of the fluff rules even though it is a rigid Codex adherent. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Well this is my rebellious "netepic" side talking...
...but does it REALLY matter what supposed "official" GW fluff say?
Its your hobby so the fluff is whatever you say it is, thats good enough for me....
Primarch | "Indee... uh, er, I mean I agree. That's why I am doing that particular chapter. I only need to invent a good fluff for them. It shouldn't take more than, say, a year...

My marines are perhaps the puriest of them all - Ultramarines! I have the entire chapter of them in Epic, with 100's of tanks (I have 108 Rhino's for them!) It's going to be a lot of painting, but they are going to look amazing when they are done.
Also I have a bit of a Blood Angles task force, 3000 Epic:A points, which are looking rather good. Then I have a Deathwatch force on the drawing board...
Cheers
Chris
