Can anyone explain the difference, or point to photos that show the difference? I keep hearing that some of the E4DK models are better than the E:A ones, specifically Falcons, Wave Serpents and Vypers. Thanks, |

I don't have pictures other than those from Epicollector. You can compare them all. I presume the later versions are the ones listed last, and that appears to be the case with the Falcons at least. Personally, I think the E:A are beautiful. |

I think some of the moulds have degraded over time. Take the Leman Russ, a model bought during the time of Epic40k is likely to look much better than the same model bought today. With the specific models you mention the same has likely occurred as they haven't been updated. |

The sculpts are generally either the same or better, I find. For example, I vastly prefer the E:A superheavy gravtanks over the old ones. However, the issue (as others have said) is with mould degradation: a Falcon cast in the Falcon mould 8-10 years ago will probably look much crisper than a new Falcon of today, simply because the moulds are (I think) the same and are starting to lose their sharp edges. |

The reason I prefer the Epic:40,000 models is because the had more variation. For falcons, there were 4 falcon hulls and 4 turrets. For wave serpents, there were 2 hulls and 2 turrets. Same for night spinners. Vypers only had a single hull, but had 4 or 5 turrets. Fire prisms had 2 hulls but just a single turret. When Epic: armageddon came out, GW selected a single hull and turret for each vehicle from the parts they originally made for E:40k and only cast those. That is one of the problems I have with the epic-scale falcons-hulled vehicles that Forgeworld makes. They are straight copies of the 40k falcons, all with jewels, vents, and probes in the exact same place. Based on the way the E:40k falcons were done, there should be some variation in the placement of those kind of things. Still, the elder vehicles didn't suffer as badly as the IG ones did. The IG vehicles in E:40k had a bunch of track, hull, and turret variants. GW then combined the tracks and hull into a single part for the E:A versions of the vehicles. Also, as others have pointed out, the older casts were made in younger molds, and so look cleaner. |

Another thing to note is the tracks and hulls used to be separate in E40k. That made it easier to hide the mold lines. They're one piece now in EA, which often means you've got a mold line running down the center of a side. |

Well thanks guys for the tips and link to Epicollector. Now I am super pumped about the E-Bay auction I won as there looks to be a lot of E4DK stuff in the lot, it's tempting me to do individual basing and play individual rules as well. |
