Another question for those of you with Eldar knowledge: how different is the Epic:40k range from the current Epic:A one? I may have the opportunity to buy a larger Eldar army, still in blister, but it is Epic:40k. I played against an E:40k Eldar army years ago, but I can't remember if they are very different at all.

Are there any sites or pictures that you know that show E:40k Eldar? My google-fu failed me on this...

Cheers,

Chris

War Engine Tanks are the main/biggest change I would say. All the Infantry are the same? Just different material in some case. Small Tanks the same the new ones are just one of the multiple different version and casted just that one over and over again. And Titans are a bit different too.

There were usually 2 Eldar hull variants and from 2-4 turret variants per tank in the E40k range. The EA range brought it down to 1 and 1. The WEs are different models now, there's no Harle's anymore and the Avatar model is new.

Heavy/Support Platforms, Vypers, Night Spinners, Wave Serpents, Wraithlords and Falcons are the same design, though the Epic40k one have a variety of weapons and detail on the components, but the EpicA ones are all one design, so Epic40k ones are better.

The Epic40k plastics had Fire Dragons and Dire Avengers on them, whereas these are now metal as they had to loose them when they re-cut the plastic sprues smaller. The newer metal ones are nicer models than the old ones, but there's not much in it.

All the flyers are identical (I'd recommend picking up the FW flyers rather than either though as they are vastly sleeker and nicer).

Epic40k War Walkers have variety but aren't as nice models as the EpicA ones.

Epic40k Phantom, Warlock and Revenants are IMO some of the worst models GW have ever produced, they're boxy and covered in ribs and not sleek and graceful like Eldar should be. I'd recommend the EpicA Revenants and picking up an old Phantom/Warlock on eBay as they re-released the same old 80s models for EpicA, though again with less variety in weapons/components that the old ones.

The Epic Armageddon superheavies - the Scorpion and Cobra - are MUCH nicer models than the ugly Epic40k ones. You'll also probably want some Storm Serpents (and Void Spinners if collecting Biel-tann - the only craftworld that fields them) which will be the newer design. I'd eBay any Epic40k superheavies you get and picking up the new sort instead.

Dragons and Avengers weren't on the E40k sprues. Otherwise I agree with GlynG, lots of superior models in the E40k range, but superheavies, the avatar and titans are far and away superior in the EA range.

They do mix well fortunatly.

My favourite is the Space Marine era Avatar personally, but the EpicA Avatar is good to buy as it has the Webway portal and Exarches for the different aspect warriors in and Exarches are awesome in epic.

Thanks, everyone! Fingers crossed that the fellow in possession of all of the E:40k stuff wants to part with it for a decent price!
