See here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/E ... ULSAR.html Fluff Quote: The Eldar Lynx is an ancient war machine, much larger than the Falcon-pattern tanks more commonly found in an Eldar Host, yet smaller and faster than the mighty Scorpion and Cobra super-heavy Grav-tanks. A swift and elegant vehicle, manned by a single pilot and equipped with potent targeting systems, the Lynx with Pulsar is a deadly tank hunter. It is able to target the weak points of even the mightiest super-heavy war engines and is capable of high-speed flight due to propulsion technology far more advanced than the anti-grav systems used by the Imperium. and here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/E ... LANCE.html Fluff Quote: The Eldar Lynx is an ancient war machine, much larger than the Falcon-pattern tanks more commonly found in an Eldar Host, yet smaller and faster than the mighty Scorpion and Cobra super-heavy Grav-tanks. The Lynx with Sonic Lance exchanges the anti-armour Pulsar loadout for the terrifying vibro technology of a Sonic Lance. In this configuration, the speed of the Lynx allows it to isolate and destroy infantry formations, its waves of sonic energy pinning the enemy in place and literally shaking them to pieces. Experimental rules for both: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/P ... l/Lynx.pdf My take on the rules for Epic: Eldar Lynx Type Speed Armour CloseCombat Firefight War Engine 35cm 5+ 6+ 5+ Weapon Range Firepower Notes Lynx Pulsar 60cm 2 x MW3+ Fixed Forward Arc Shuriken Cannon 30cm AP5+ - Damage Capacity 2. Critical Hit Effect: The Lynx’s gravitic drives implode, sucking nearby troops into an energy maelstrom. The Lynx is destroyed and any model within 5cm of the model suffer one hit on a roll of 6. Notes: Reinforced Armour, Skimmer. Or considering that the Malcador is a DC2 WE in Wh40k but considerin its small size more fitting to be an AV: Eldar Lynx Type Speed Armour CloseCombat Firefight Armoured Vehicle 35cm 4+ 6+ 5+ Weapon Range Firepower Notes Lynx Pulsar 60cm 2 x MW3+ Fixed Forward Arc Shuriken Cannon 30cm AP5+ - Notes: Reinfoced Armour, Skimmer. Of course there should be a Sonic Lance version but iirc there are no set stats for the Sonic Lance in Epic. |

Holofield? Really? I'd think that even if the 40k version has a holofield there's precedence for keeping it as reinforced armor on anything below titans. |

Post subject: | Re: Eldar Lynx |
No problem replacing Holofields with Reinforced Armour. The armour stats i would see to remain the same (WE = 5+RA, AV = 4+RA). IIRC both superheavies and all aircraft have "Eldar Titan Holofields" in WH40k. But they don't in Epic. So having Reinforced Armour instead fits ![]() I will edit it in my posting above. BTW: The special "flyer" rule for the Lynx might justify Teleport? |

Post subject: | Re: Eldar Lynx |
Stats look good otherwise. I'm not sure if it should have speed 35cm, maybe 30cm as that's midway between the Engines of Vaul and the regular AVs. I'm guessing WE if it's supposed to be a one-unit formation and AV if they come in pairs or threes. The difficult question is of course how to fit it into lists without stomping all over the Scorpion ![]() What is the "flyer" rule? Is it really something that should apply to the Lynx and not to Falcons, Vypers or other stuff? |

Look at the experimental rules. The Lynx can decide at the start of a turn to act as an aircraft but can't shoot while doing so. No other Eldar vehicle has this rule. IIRC only in Apocalypse there is a formation which can do this but i'm not sure as i can't check my books at the moment. |

I really, really like that tank/mini. |

I'm pretty sure that Falcons have a top speed of several hundreds of miles per hour and are capable of true flight. Same goes for Vultures/Valkyries. Not really a fan of adding special rules to epic units just because they wanted something special for Apocalypse (unless it's needed to give the vehicle a niche of course). |

In 40k loads of aircraft (including the thunderhawk) can effectively do this, they have a hover mode which allows them to act like a normal skimmer. This is just that in reverse, and doesn't need representing. |

I think that falcon cloudstrike squadrons can basically do the same thing in apocalypse. Personally, I think the pop-up rules we already have most closely reflect this ability anyway. Because really, a double move in Epic would be indiscernible from an aircraft move at the scale of a 40k table. |

Might be nice to use the old Epic Eldar Warp Hunter for this... |

What about using the old Warp Hunter as a Warp Hunter? |

carlos wrote: Might be nice to use the old Epic Eldar Warp Hunter for this... Yeah, I was psyched when I first saw the lynx from the UKGD slides, because I thought they'd give it a D-cannon and then we'd have a warp hunter. For some reason, though, FW decided to base the warp hunter on the standard falcon chassis. Alas. Of course, that doesn't mean I have to base the warp hunter off an unmodified falcon chassis. |

So, what would be the possible stats on a warp hunter since there is a model for it? same stas as a cobra? or something slightly cheaper than 250? |
