If you're using that point value, which is the NetEA Project value, make sure you're using the NetEA Fire Prism stats as well! They lose AA from their attack and get a 60cm AP4+/AT2+ Lance attack instead.

I'd rather go with Falcons and Firestorms personally, unless you know you're going up against lots of RA targets (like Steel Legion IG). Though 5 Fireprisms come out to 325pts vs. 300pts for 4 falcons and 2 firestorms - 5 shots vs 12 to 16, though obviously at a shorter range and lower to hit values. Don't get me wrong, they're not bad, I just think Falcons are more versatile, especially with the AA of the firestorms.

Falcons are typically better if you're not getting a lot of penalties, or have a lot of mixed formation opposition.
Fire Prisms are better against RA (obviously), and if you are needing to do a lot of doubling and firing into cover.

EDIT - Forgot the math (5 Prisms vs 6 Falcons)
+1 to hit = 5 shots at 2+ (4.166' hits) vs 12 shots at 3+ (8 hits)
+0 to hit = 5 shots at 2+ (4.166' hits) vs 12 shots at 4+ (6 hits)
-1 to hit = 5 shots at 3+ (3.333' hits) vs 12 shots at 5+ (4 hits)
-2 to hit = 5 shots at 4+ (2.5 hits) vs 12 shots at 6+ (2 hits)
/EDIT

The slight range difference for the most part is irrelevant due to the Hit and Run capability. It'd be more important without that rule. And of course, the Falcons do have a small advantage in FireFight.

For me, the choice is FirePrisms, but that's purely psychological (which is weird, because I'm usually more stat/average/math based). Opponents fielding stuff with RA "seem" to make RA more often than they should. Any ability to remove that ability, I take, if it's not an expensive difference.

I take FirePrisms for flavor only (as I do a lot of units). If I were to hard boil a list for a tourney they wouldn't make it.

I like FPs because of their extra range. It enables them to keep a safer distance than is possible for falcons. And I like the models :)

They're also good because they have the rare combination of AP fire and lance... it's a handy combination!
