each cobra has 2BP TK d3+1, so how would it work if 3 of them are in a formation. adding up to 6BP, i get lost after that.........

TK D3+1 for each unit which is hit (hit not only shot at). The TK hits don't add up for each Cobra.

so 6bp would be At 5+, then every 5+ rolled gets TKd3+1?

They fire a barrage using the table as normal (For 6BP, that's two templates, AP4+ AT5+, one extra blast marker). Roll to hit for each unit under either template (either once for normal units, or once for every two points of DC for war engines under the centre of a template). Each unit that is hit gets no save (except Invulnerable Saves) and, if it's a War Engine, takes D3+1 points of damage.

Each unit that is hit gets no save (except Invulnerable Saves) and, if it's a War Engine, takes D3+1 points of damage.

War engines take the D3+1 points of damage per successful hit!  So, if, say, a Gargant gets hit twice, it's taking 2D3+2 damage!

and that hit per 2 DC rule affects all BP attacks? i misse that rule i think. that makes shooting barrages at blitz brigades with gun forts look a lil better.

It's actually one attack per 2DC of the target, rounded up; so a Gunfortress under the "little hole" would have two attacks rolled against it.

And most use 2 cobra. At 2bp each the attacks go
1 Cobra - 2bp total - 1 template - AP5+/AT6+
2 Cobra - 4bp total - 2 templates - Both templates AP4+/AT5+
3 Cobra - 6bp total - 2 templates - Both templates AP4+/AT5+ - give the target one extra blast marker

From that you should see the 'optimum' point for many players is to have 2.

Yup, a pair of these sustaining at a Great Gargant should do an average of 9 TK damage! (6 attacks, 3 hits, 3 damage per hit, 9 damage, on average)

Our local Eldar power gamer maintains that 1 Cobra formations are equal or better.  While the to-hit numbers are lower, you get better template placement (literally twice as good against centered WEs, offsetting the lower to-hit entirely), and all the additional flexibility of another activation (BM for coming under fire, target selection, etc.).

Agreed Neal:- some time ago I had two of these take on and kill a shielded Warlord over consecutive turns. Once the titan had advanced into range (and missed) the Cobras advanced, stripping the shields and I got lucky with the strategy roll (for once) so sustained with both of them.

The point about these beasts is that they actually get stronger against bigger titans because of the WE shooting rule. In my case, each was throwing 4x dice with each hit scoring 2-3x TK hits on average. From memory I got 6-7 hits ***
