Lugganath Craftworld Army List
The Fir Iolarion Titan Legion is truly the hero of Lugganath and the main source of military power for this Craftworld that hangs outside the Anargo Sector. ?These Eldar were almost completely destroyed four centuries ago when they lost control of the warp gates onboard their Craft world, Lugannath, allowing the Daemons of the warp to enter and attack them. ?For many years the clan drifted helplessly in space while they laboured to make the necessary repairs; stranded, and with their numbers severly depleted by the creatures in their midst, they were reduced to being one of the weakest Eldar clans.
Over time however, thanks only to their own unrelenting and steadfast efforts, they have not only regained the power they once had but increased their might many fold. ?However, the destruction of much of their military infrastructure combined with the heroic efforts of the Fir Iolarion caused this Craftworld to develop in a much different manner than their bretheren across the galaxy. ?Focusing on the majestic titans as their source of protection, Lugganath has developed an army that focuses primarily on the giant machines. ?But this is not the extent of the Lugganath by any means.

Tir?asur, or Land of the Phoenix, is a pristine garden world which, while hot, still remains a paradise for both the Craftworld and Exodite Eldar that live there. ? When Lugganath settled into this part of the galaxy, they found their Exodite brothers long settled on Tir?asur; a waypoint on the edge of the Anargo Sector that provides ground for the Eldar to trade with the Empire in delicate peace. ?The Exodites over time developed strong ties both culturally and militarily with the nearby Lugganath. ?Knights of Tir?asur join their larger Titan cousins on the battlefield in a support function that has displaced the more commonly seen Engines of Vaul.

After reading another thread a couple weeks back, I got to working on a Lugganath Craftworld list and -being that its central feature are titans- I decided to work on a varied list of Eldar Titans, including a titan larger than the Warlock!

My goal was to create a list that would be compatible with EA, able to compete with the AMTL 2.0, have as many obtainable models as possible, and still match the fluff. ?The theme is obviously Titans, but also a deviation from skimmers. ?Walkers should dominate the landscape, be they titans, knights, other other support.

So below are some of the ideas I had...

Magnate is supposed to be a four legged Titan similar in design to the Bright Stallion Knight, but much larger. ?It certainly can't compete with an Imperator or Mega Gargant, but I figured it doesn't have to. ?This is one that will have to be scratch built or kit-busted.

Scout Titans are the Epic 40k Scouts. ?

Warden Titans are based on the ugly armored Phantom Titans, but with two power fists. ?Easy to kit-bust with 40k Wraithlord parts.

Sentry Titans are also based on the ugly armored scout titans from years back.

The knights are the knights. ?My problem with them is that the stats provided in the Swordwind book for them makes them quite powerful and it would be difficult to balance the list with so many TKs and MWs out there. ?So I threw out some stats that made them weaker and cheaper. ?In the end I may have to defer to the Swordwind stats, but please look these over and tell me what you think.

EXODITES HAVE BEEN REMOVED.

FYI, the list is not complete by any means.  I intend to include availability of Wave Serpents, Guardians, Aspects, etc.  I just haven't gotten around to it yet (real life intervening). :p

As an initial thought I'd probably pull the Exodites from the list, and save them for their own list.

And now I'll get to reading. :)

Very cool to see some Anargo Sector related stuff here. It would be even cooler if you would also post this in our Wargaming section

You might also want to check this out in which we try to create a warrior Aspect for Lugganath. Concepts of this shrine can be found here

Now I know you wanted those ugly titans. You're using them as something else instead of Phantoms. Good idea! Of course this means that I ight have to break down and actually buy one.  :D

I like the theme of your list. I'm looking foward to seeing it fleshed out. Any specific ideas for kitbashing a Magnate?

Color scheme I had in mind would be split up:

Guardians and standard vehicles (Falcons, Wave Serpents, etc.) would be Bright Red/Scarlet, with Black as a Secondary color.  That's just from the GW site.

Exodites could be Gold, but I hadn't given them much thought.  The color would go well as a contrast to the gray/green skins of their dino buddies.  Knights would probably be Gold to match their Exodite origins.

Titans... The attached picture is of a Guardian, but I can't help feel it would be a great primary for the Titans (but more metallic, like hot copper).  The models are so detailed that secondary and tertiary colors would pop out really well.  However, of all things the paint scheme is the widest open.  If anyone else has ideas I am all ears.  But I just don't want to see them in five different primary colors and looking like Harlequin Titans  :p

As for the Exodites - I am mixed on bringing them as well, mainly because I want it to be a playable list.  My primary motivation for including them is that the fluff indicates strong ties between Tir?asur and Lugganath.  That and Knights' origins are Exodite, not Craftworld.  And I really want the knights to be part of the list.

Things I am going to keep from the list:

Engines of Vaul.  None of them are coming.

Swords of Vaul.  The formation as it stands on 1.8 will not be on this list.  Falcons and Fire Prisms will be small support formations (probably 3 total).  I know they break very easy, but something needs to balance the list.

Large infantry formations.  I'll probably go with a medium sized 6 unit standard for Lugganath infantry, both for Aspects and Guardians, with upgrades available.

Bikes/Vypers.  Once again I don't see a need for them on the list given everything else.

Wraithlord formations.  I know they are walkers, but that would be taking too much from other lists.

Obviously, it's your list but Lugganath was a craftworld, not an exodite world.  Their titan clan saved them from being overrun by chaos but the Craftworld was all but destroyed anyway.  That background just doesn't fit your list.

I know, Neal.  Maybe I didn't word it properly so let me try again...

The Lugganath Craftworld sits right outside the Anargo Sector and very, very close to Tir?asur (an Exodite world) which is inside the Anargo sector.

According to the fluff, Lugganath settled into that section of the galaxy shortly after The Fall and found their Exodite bruthas nearby.  They started trade agreements and the cultures quickly grew together.  It isn't certain if this melding was forced by Lugganath or not, but what is fairly clear is that Tir'asur is now settled by both Exodites and former Lugganath Eldar.

So if they grew together culturally and economically, it isn't a far stretch to see them with a shared military.  I thought I put that in the original post... ???

Once again, I'm not set on including the Exodites, although I want their Knights on the list.  Dinos and/or knights would quite easily fit though.

Lugganath is flying somewhere, but the Web Way can connect worlds and craftworld throughout the galaxy, Tir'asur is just one colony amongst several.

My mistake.  I didn't realize you were making up that much background stuff.

Is there a reason you want knights in the list beyond paralleling the AMTL/Knight structure?

Look here for the background on Tir'asur and Lugganath.
