The Spear of Khaine is detailed in the Ulthwé Strike Force pdf on the GW site.

Well, that changes my opinion. If they went ahead and made an Apocalypse formation with it in there, then you might as well add it to the E:A list.

It's not like it makes a [big] difference either way. Looks like you're going to have to make a command decision Chroma, which means someone will think you made the wrong decision. Sorry.

Agreed.

There should be a "Spear of Khaine" formation to fit the fluff, as well as, match the formation in WH40k (Apocalypse, especially).

Plus, having an "Avatar with warlocks" model on the board is just WAY too cool to pass up.  Seems a "no-brainer" to me.

Although, I am not of the opinion that each craftworld should have their own special incarnation of the Avatar.

I support the creation of the Spear of Khaine.  :agree:  :agree:

Instead of making a special Avatar formation for each Craftworld you could say that they each have either the SoK or the CotYK.

I don't really see an Avatar keeping up with Wild Riders or babysitting the dead (Wraithguard), but each Craftworld is lead by either an Autarch or Farseer. So depending upon their disposition (Autarch for Saim Hann, Spiritseer (Farseer) for Iyanden) they would use CotYK or SoK.

Of course you could always keep Plan A and just keep it at Beil-Tan having the only special Avatar group and let the rest have a normal Avatar.

I support the creation of the Spear of Khaine.

Okay, I'm adding the Spear of Khaine to the next iteration of Ulthwé, but here's the catch: It's not free!

It's an optional "upgrade" to the Ulthwé Avatar that costs, at the moment, +50 points; it grants an extra CCMW or FFMW attack to the Avatar, which, for a war engine can be very useful.  You're not forced to take it, as I don't believe Ulthwé always goes to war with them and it has a point cost to counter any cries that Ulthwé gets "better" stuff for free.

Let me know what you think!
