It does sound pretty cool, but those are the three rarest armies, model-wise, yes?

Perfect!

Well this would be a common theme too :D

Looked in the Wh40k rulebook where Exodite World are treated by Tyranids:

Quilan lies in the path of Hivefleet Moloch.

Cegorachi and Rhidol lies in the path of Hicefleet Jormungandr.

Rianoen, Areadnnil, Es-thea and Eq'hai lie in the path of Hivefleet Kraken.

Mirienh lies in the path of Hivefleet Colossus.

Myrandias liesin the path of Hivefleet Behemoth.

Just to give some names :)

Possibly I guess; supplement title? Epic - Rarities

Not a serious suggestion! :p

And actually are Knight armies that rare? I would assume a lot of TL era players would have enough to run an army. In player terms I imagine armies that never had ranges, such as Inquisition, Sisters of Battle, ect could be rarer. Anyway people can always playtest over Vassal these days, where model rarity would not be a concern.

It is only a rarity if you don't give players something to proxy the models with.  :D
I.e. The modeling section might be fantastically large; bigger than the Necrons and Dark Eldar combined.

---
Brainstorm idea...
Epic: Knights
Epic: Fringe
---
In these conflicts with the Tyranids, were the Tyranids ever repelled or were the worlds OM NOM NOM NOM NOM!
---
I like the combo if for no other reason than it brings a human element into it (e.g. Knights) which is important for writing a good story IMO.

I'd like to see the Orks go up against the Exodites/Knights... with the Orks being the "high tech" invader against the "low tech" Knights/Wood Elves (SORRY!).

Hey

This sounds like a excellent idea and I think the list as such seems to be well thought- out.

The only thing I could think of is that maybe you could settle for a smaller number of dino-rider typ units together with some generic eldar infantry (only "guardian"-like ones though) and the 3 or 4 knight types as suggested. This because all new units must be converted and it takes a lot of patience on the part of prospective players... So if we can build an army at least partly using available units, it would be a lot easier and quicker, and thus more people would be likely to be interested in collecting an army.

Other than that I would only say this: get the army painted up and show it off, thats the best way to sell the idea.

Good work so far and good luck!

In Citadel Journal Compendium there are Space Marine era rules and fluff of the Knights (=even older fluff). I will upload it tomorrow.

The short story i mentioned earlier with Eldar Exodite fluff can be found in the short story collection "Into the Maelstrom". The story is called "The Black Pearl" and is wirtten by Chris Pramas.

Exodites versus Knights sounds like a fun suppliment.

I'd be happy to lend my Knightworld list to such a project.

Epic: Fringe may be more appropriate given the galactic location of many of the knight worlds, and the type of people who would choose to play such armies.

Excellent! I had been meaning to ask  Your experience in producing supplements could be invaluable to tap into too E&C as will the help and opinions of main people on here I'm sure. And thanks for mentioning that Black Legion, I’ll check that out in a while.

If my plans and hopes work out I want to produce Epic: Knights, a Raiders and Crusaders supplement containing Eldar Exodites, Imperial Knights and Slaaneshi Knights (a Slaanesh only LatD variant with plenty of Knights). Various different titles and races had been mooted but that particular combination works really well I think, it’s an obvious, but appropriate name, in the footsteps of Raiders and Siege. I want to take the time to do it right and am happy for it to be one of the later supplements, maybe a couple of years off or more.

The discussion died off when the forums went down and I hadn’t restarted things, but not because I’ve gone off the idea or anything. I have been doing some more thinking and playing around with ideas and profiles behind the scenes, but have also been increasingly busy with real world stuff and have had ever less free time to spare for working on it or discussing it.

For the next month to month and a half I really have to concentrate all my energies on getting a couple of lengthy essays researched and written for my Masters at long last, they have been really understanding with everything after my family died, but I have had two years of extensions on them already now and they are saying there’s only so long I can put off doing them and still do the course.

The relevant bit for here being that if it’s ok with people I’d really rather put the real discussion of things here on hold for a time longer and then come back in month or so once I’ve sorted the essays (fingers crossed), at which point I can properly go over what I have and get discussions and things moving on it. Hope no-one will mind delaying things a bit longer!
