What is confusing us is the "Epic Compendium" listing all changes as if they were official. Our next Epic Epic game is truly 40K, that is 20,ooo points each side and we want to use the "REAL" rules this time. So does real mean the printed rules plus the FAQ listed here by Neal?
Thx

Yes, we know, the game was intended to be played in the 2000-5000 points range...

Until the NetEA Armies Book comes out, as a beginner to E:A I would tend to stick to the core rules only.

The Armies Book should be out in about a month, I guess.

This may sound trite but the 'real' rules are the ones you want to play with.

I'd also make the distinction between rules and lists. I think most use the rules available from GW, and most of the FAQ and discussion here assume that fact.

With lists use whatever source you and your opponent feel most comfortable with. If you attend a more structured event the organizer will set the lists allowed in their event.

Yar totally, I should have noted that.

Also it's worth mentioning that EpicUK have some army lists on their website: http://www.epic-uk.co.uk/armylists.shtml

If you are talking about the compendium put together by MarkConz, that was an experimental rules doc. It contained all the rule revisions that were under consideration for the 2008 rule review. Many of them did not make it into the official update.

The "official" rules are the ones on the GW website (though some of the docs have typos).

The FAQs on TacComms are the same ones in the official 2008 FAQs, plus any new questions that we've worked up since then. All the new FAQs are answered based on the official core rules. Not everyone agrees with all the answers/interpretations, but nothing is based on new or changed rules.

I use the Eldar list located on this board HERE and play Saim-Hann with many jetbikes. The 5+ armor doesnt bother me overly. I play them alot.
