Greetings fellow Eldar players.

Since I converted from Space Marine to Epic EA, I've been somewhat undecided about which Eldar Titans to use, so I was wondering if more experienced Epic EA Eldar players could share some insight into which titans they prefer and why, and what tactics you favour with your titans, so that I can come to a better understanding of which titans would best suit my playing style.

Just to let you know that I have three Phantom Titans, two Revenenant Titans, and a Warlock Titan at my disposal, so I've got plenty of choice, too much choice to be sure of which to use!

So what are your thoughts?

On a larger table (or playing lengthwise) I play the Phantom.  Their range is good, the phantom lances are excellent, and they have excellent mobility.

Playing tourney games I love the Warlock.  I posted some info on your Warseer thread but to summarize it is simply a beast.  It doesn't just break formations in an assault, it destroys them.  The hit-n-run consolidation move means that it can do some nasty things once it gets into assault range.  I have played many hammer-and-anvil games where the Warlock was just a brutal killer.  And having recently been on the recipient end of one, my opinion still stands.

Lots of players swear by the Revenants but I am unconvinced.  I suppose they are great for small point games, but my own personal experience with them is that they die very easily and they spend more time running than anything else.  There are probably plenty of Eldar players out here, however, that have used them more effectively than I.

Second lance or powerfist though?

At the minute i'm personally edging towards powerfist.  It's a serious reduction in most efficient range but i think the flexibility and extra engagement power it brings is worth it.

What are everyone else's opinions?

Fist for the warlock and lance for phantom. :)  Maximizing their efficiency at one aspect, so no jacks of all trades...

If I wanted a Powerfist, I´d go Warlock and do some serious charging, that one is well-nigh invincible in assaults and can use its consolidation move to support a second engage in the same turn.

Mastery of its use means getting a Warlock into position to support in one turn, then use a triple acitvation having it support first, activate it to make its own engage (possibly with the consolidated winners of the first action), consolidate the Warlock into another support position and then use a third formation to pull yet another engage. Carnage is guaranteed if you manage this!

Powerfist for the Phantom isn't so bad, especially if you know you will face an opponent with no War Engines or little-to-no reinforced armor.  6 x AP4+/AT4+ shots is not bad and against an enemy like Orks you might be better off both offensively and defensively.

But in general I agree keep the Phantom Titan with both lances and make him work from a distance.

I agree with that mosc. Defensive capabilities of fist is good against aggressive players with agressive armies. I also prefer twin lances for phantom and try to play it on full support role.

Don't you think that 750 pts is rather a lot of points for 4 x TK 3+ shots a turn though?

I don't know.  I've used it a few times with twin lances now and it just feels a bit meh... and not really worth the points outlay.

In light of this discussion, I'm certainly thinking of spearheading an attack with my Warlock Titan.  It's arguably the best looking Eldar model in the range, and it's easily one of my favourite models, so I think that I would like to give it a whirl and see how it performs.

The biggest problem with the Warlock as i see it is that if you take one, then you can't get any aircraft and i'm rather fond of air drops and their striking power.

I think i'll defo have to give the Warlock a bash at some point though.

Well the AA fire is rather useful too.  :vD

Take Firestorms to make up for the lack of aircraft.  Those things are dynamite!

Irisado, enjoy the Warlock.  If it isn't wiped out by Deathstrikes or Shadowswords in turn 1, you'll do well.  Post a battle report and let us know how it goes.

I'm playing against Marines, so I'm not too worried about it being shot down to be honest, I just want to keep it out of the fire arcs of multiple units of Devastators, as their high rate of fire is a concern.  Land Raiders could cause some trouble too, but I have ways of getting rid of those.

Moscovian:

I'm hoping to play this game at Christmas, so there should be a battle report for you all to read before the New Year.

Firestorms can't air assault or fly across the field laying AT4+ smackdown either though....

It's a tough one and i definately intend to give the Warlock a go at some point.  Looking forward to Irisado's battle report on the same subject.
