In the support craft thread:
Support craft
I suggested that the rule for SptC was fine but it was the individual unit types that needed the work. I suggested upgrading the deflector shield for the Manta as it seems to me that the problem with SptC is that they can be seen from everywhere, and, even though they can see everywhere themselves, that the amount of fire directed at a Manta would tend to outweigh what fire the Manta itself can put out in return.
Therefore, what do people think of changing Deflector Shields to 4+ vs all shooting attacks and adjusting the weaponry to 1x Twin-linked Heavy Railcannon? (TKD3+1)? For balance, it reduces the amount of fire from the Manta but the upgrade in defence is increased for sustainability over the game length.

I would be very hesitant to do this right now. As far as I am aware, the survivability of the Manta is not and has not been an issue. The only thing that I feel needs looking at is the ability to embark/disembark at times other than the planetfall turn.
