Solid looking list, with just a few issues.

1) You've got three formations that are worth 600 points, that means your opponent has three different formations he can choose to take out to achieve the "Break Their Spirit" goal, try to jiggle your points so you've only got one formation that costs the most.

2) You might want to look at getting some Stingrays in there to clear out infantry.  Your army can certainly take on tanks, but massed infantry might be a problem, especially dug-in in cover.

For the Greater Good!

I would also add, that you have added a decent amount of marker light capability, but no units that will greatly benefit from the ML.

Things to consider:

1. Stingrays as mentioned previously
2. Piranha detachments

The other thing to keep in mind is that the Morays are not going to be the IG players best friend, so he's going to come after them. Use them wisely.

Have you decided which version of the Moray to use? I started out with rail gun variants, but then later went with Ion Phalanx, letting the AX-1-0 carry my big AT guns.

Regardless, this will be a fun list to play and should have the IG player sweating a little bit.

I'd say the AMHC and mechanized Fire Warriors will benefit from the markerlights... effectively doubling the 75cm firepower of the Hammerheads... that's a lot of AT dice!  *laugh* Or even allows a good mix of AP/AT fire against mechanized enemies...

Sampy,

No Shas'o or Scorpionfish?

single moray formations are very fragile if deployed from turn 1. Your 2 units will be able to see the entire enemy army... but you don't have 90cm+ weapons and you only go 20cm per move.... the ENTIRE enemy army will see your two vessels though as no terrain blocks them. They will be sitting ducks for the enemy fire.

At 5K points, the IG may have numerous formations that will reach you on turn 1. To name a notable few...

Deathsrikes (board, MWTK(d6) each)
Manticores (board, disrupt, 2BP each)
Shadowswords (90cm, 2+, MWTK)
Vulture Gunships (120 2+, 2x shots each)
LRMBT Co (single 20cm move + 75cm range = 95cm of AT4+ each with an AT2+ Vanquisher shot)

I'd consider putting the Moray's together as a single formation of 6 hits so you don't break as quick first... then, I'd consider deploying them from a Hero in planetfall to make sure you get to fire with them before the IG blow them out of the air, or at least suppress/break them. ?Hero shots will help you vs. anything that's grossly big... and at a 5K game, you are sure to see some of that.

I would lose the stealth suit upgrade, and reduce one crisis suit and look to see if I could add broadsides on an Orca.

I'm not a big fan of the stand-alone tetra squad. Tetra plus the piranha's in coordinated support have proved effective.

I'm not a big fan of DF with the FW presently. If you are getting milage out of them, then by all means, run 'em. However, I'd probably put the gun drone upgrades on the crisis before I put them on the FW.

You may regret not having one flight of barracudas at this point level. Enemy IG maurader bombers could leave a mark if he deals with your HH cadres effectively. beware of overwatch, you have to deal with the overwatch to make your HH effective. THey only have 4+ armor and no RA...

Just my thoughts.

Cheers,

Honda, you got the point. But I?ll keep those ML?s, they are also powerful psychological weapon..... :;):

It?s always nice to throw those centry drone turrets straightly in to the attack line of my opponent. :D

Good points Tactica, but like always, you can?t get everything in 5000 pts...  :D

But I must seriously consider your words.  Thanks for advice.

Must always consider that how my friends are playing and what they are probably going to take...

I wouldn't deny that the AHMC would benefit, but I also look at the cost and I can't help but wonder if a couple of Piranha continents with upgrades wouldn't a different yet effective supplement to the RST's.

I recently used a similar pointed force of Piranha's to rip a Reaver and Leman Russ company to shreds all abley assisted by RST.

Different strokes, as they say, but I like to use other units on top of my AHMC's to take advantage of the RST's.

True,

Instead of taking a more direct approach of telling you what to change, i was just giving you ideas to consider.

I figure a guy looking for advise isn't looking for a pat on the back or direct line-item suggestions.

I assume you have a host of variables to consider, table size, terrain, armies, skillsets, etc to consider as well. So hopefully, there's something out of my post that either gets you thinking about something you hadn't considered, or perhaps identifies some things you definitely know you are not going to do - thus solidifying your own decisions already.

Either way, better to teach a man to build a Devilfish than give lend him a Tetra for the evening. ;)

Good luck with the game,

Considering the IG opponent, I think the stingrays stand to benefit most from the ML in general in the list.

Sure, the AMHC can benefit and so can DF, but the main value will be enhancing the shots coming out of the Stingray.

I think Honda has a point in that the list here doesn't 'focus' on guided shots, but has a significant influence of ML.

AMHC will first benefit by using main weapons and secondary weapons that do not rely on the ML for value, the unit is simply complimented by the guided shot when it can take advantage.

You are typically not going to be sustain firing AMHC and you will likely be moving, so at best - if the enemy is in the open, you can count on marked targets being hit on 5+ from the AMHC guided munitions and commonly at 6+ if they are in cover. Not the weapon system you want to focus on when considering tactics for your AMHC IMHO. So, that's a long way of saying I'm sympathetic to Honda's experience here as I've had the same dilmna's to consider.

Units with a high volume of guided shots to points vested ratio AND that have a relative limited number of OTHER non-guided shots tend to be ideal candidates for the 'lit' targets.

I think that's why the piranha and Stingray and Scorpionfish units are more appealing tactical choices to take advantage of the ML as compared to the AMHC for some of us.
