Loved the report and pics as noted in that thread.
Can't say that CF looked disproportionate in this game than expected to be considering the forces, deployment, terrain, and tactics on both sides.
1-1 turn 3 game is looking pretty promising too. Sure Turn 4 could have been decisive, but failed activations, hot dice and a host of things can change the what if of games. Did look like Tau had the upper hand despite the 1-1 draw at the end of the game though.
Be mindful, bugs lose a load of models against a shooting army. If you had gotten to the Tau lines and perhaps rectified some of those mistakes you noted, I think the game could have went from draw to bug dominance.
As to your question about the CF of the Tau, I feel pretty comfortable overall that there's a fairly good center on the results of the tactic. It works in some games, it doesn't dominate in all games. In others, its next to impossible to coordinate due to tactics/terrain etc at play. Time seems to continually show that if used effectively, its a good tool. Commander, if used effectively, is also a good tool against Tau. A good space marine player with Commander can really poo on Tau's day with their assaults.
As both Tau and Bugs are in development, I think your report shows a fairly nice synergy for this stage. 1-1 from two tried and then tuned tourny armies is nothing to be ashamed of on either side.
Definitely encouraging to see both of these lists coming together. Says a lot for the efforts of the champions and the communities involved.
BTW: I've gotten in quite a few bug games in recently, but all have been against IG. I really think the Bug list is starting to come together. The tide is tough to deal with, but requires mindful management of the horde to not let it get out of control, and aggressive play and unit matching can really pay off in that list. A testiment to Jaldon's continued efforts and I encourage others to give the list a go. Its tough and effective, but much more enjoyable as you feel like you have a chance now vs. the old really huge horde of wounds problem.
