The Tau have really put ink to paper regarding the Support Craft type of unit in Epic. It describes them as high above the terrain, unable to take cover, etc.
Question: Wouldn't aircraft -if they so chose- be able to fire their AA weapons against them?
This would give aircraft a bump in their effectiveness against Support Craft (allowing Thunderbolts to bring their Stormbolters to bear, as an example, or their Multilaser to hit on a 5 instead of a 6).
Am I just overthinking this or does it makes sense to anyone else?

I think that would then open up the idea of why couldn't ground units use their AA values if it was preferable.
Also, they seem to be pretty vulnerable as it is, since they can't use terrain to hide from their primary attackers.
Basically, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble of dealing with the questions it would open up.

Also, it could be argued that AA weapons don't have enough "oomph" to actually damage a well armored support craft (assuming support craft have far thicker armour than a true aircraft). Basically, unless the AA weapon also has an AT characteristic, it probably couldn't cause any significant damage anyway.

Both of you bring up good points. I figured I was over thinking it (or not thinking enough? ).
Thanks for the posts.

I'm of the same 'rough' opinion too, just to throw it in. AA guns are 'sort of' like AP weapons against 'flying things'. They don't have the oomf against 'mini-spaceships', which is what Support Craft pretty much *are*.
