The question is if you add pathfinders to a formation can it (the formation) then do co-ordinated fire?

Yes.  It's just like Commander.  If one unit in the formation has it, the formation can use the ability and every unit in the formation counts for determining if the ability is "in range."

NH has it, very similar to commander in this case.
