So this afternoon I faced off against 3000 points of Orcs. It was mu opponent Rick's 2nd game of Epic, the first being back in Setember. Beautifully painted Orcs with most of the Mobs and such fitting together into little mini dioramas. I'll get some pics next time. He had a couple Warbands with the extra wagons, Killa Kans, and all sorts of other Orky goodies attached, a couple of Gunwagon Blitz Brigades, and some Deth koptas. No Stompas or Gargants or Fighta-Bommas. He took a Kill kroozer (mostly to fill out points) as he's a big BFG player so he wanted to try it. I'll explaine as I go through the report though I'm sure you all know how well that worked. He kind of threw his list together at the last moment as he was originally playing BFG, but no one showed. I took the following: 1. Battle Suit Cadre + Shas'O + 2 Crisis Suits + 3 Srealthsuits 2. Battlesuit Cadre + Shas'El + 2 Crisis Suits + 3 Srealthsuits 3. FireWarrior Cadre + Devilfish 4. Armoured Mobile Hunter Cadre (Railguns) + 2 HammerHeads + 1 Swordfish + Networked Drones 5. Hammerhead Contingent (4 x Ion Cannon) + 1 Swordfish 6. Broadside Contingent 7. Barracuda Squadron 8. Tigershark AX-10 I ended up with 2 more activations which usually ended up being runs by the Tigershark and Barracudas. I will say right away that the Tigershark is a point sink if your opponent doesn't take any heavy hitters like Gargants or Stompas. The second thing I will say before I continue is that Orcs are squishy. ![]() Here is the Deployment. Tau get first Move. ![]() |

My mistake, Orcs won the first move now that I remember as I write this. An Orc Blitz Brigade tore across the middle of the table, opening fire on the Broadside Battlesuits garrisoned at Orc Objective 3, an abandoned missle silo. The hail of fire only managed to eliminate a single Broadside. Standing next to the wreckage of their brother in arms the Broadsides returned with a deadly storm of railgun fire, causing enough damage for the Gunwagonz to turn tail and rethink their plans. The 2 Crisis suit Cadres advanced on the Tau objectives, opening fire on the Warbands garrisoned at the objectives, a crashed Tau Devilfish on the right and a lone Shas?el trapped behind enemy lines. These are just a couple objective makers I?ve started making for my Tau. The Orc Warband with the Warlord unloaded at the objective, and what a warband it was loaded with Killa Kans, Gunwagonz, Oddboyz and all sorts of goodies. They opened fire on the Shas?O?s Crisis Cadre, taking out a scouting squad of Stealthsuits. As the Kill Kroozer filled the sky, a flash of light erupted from the Kroozer s it unleased an Orbital Bombardment slightly south of Orc Objective 2. Luckily the Tau forces were just out of range, with the edge of the damage narrowly missing Firewarrior T?ais by a hair. The Tau later discovered that they had nothing in the forces that the Kroozer could target with pinpoint accuracy, letting them ignore the giant hulk floating above them. The Mobile Hunter Cadre advanced to help out the Shas?o, opening a salvo upon the nearby Gunwagons from the Warlord?s mob, taking a few out in the process. The Deth Koptas replied by taking shots at the Shas?el?s Cadre, whittling the numbers down. The Firewarriors unloaded from their Devilfish, digging into their objective, and The Ion-head contingent advanced on the Deth Koptas, avenging their lost brothers. The turn finished as the Barracuds and Tigershark flew in and attacked the warbands, the Orks too surprised by the appearance of the aircraft to respond with their AA. (He forgot he had them, but not for long) ![]() |

As I'm writing this I'm thinking he may have had another Brigade of Gunwagonz over by the Kill Kroozer. And hopefully these images aren't too large. I run my screen res pretty high for work. |

Recomendation for your mate - include 3-4 4 strong flakwagon formations in the army. Amasing things, since the last WPS epic tourney I've seen more and more people use 'em. Oh and if you have anything with TK/MW when facing hordes target the most expensive infantry. Aircraft can do this by flying over the formation and stopping when you get to the target, making it the closest one, so taking a hit first. |

Breten, GREAT maps!!! 1. What program did you use to draw these? 2. I've seen a bunch of fonts online to support 40K, in fact I've got the Tau one. Is that what you used for your text? 3. Would it be possible to add some arrows to indicate where units moved from? I'm really looking forward to the next turns. Thanx for sharing. |

I would like to hear more about the Tigershark. Given the explanation of the Ork forces, I would think that you could pretty easily earn their points back. |

Bretan, Maps are a bit wider than my current resolution, but I can scroll back and fourth I suppose. ![]() maps look great - the key requires a bit of going back and fourth due to my lack of tau-en-ese or ork-iscan proficiencies, but notthing I can't manage. I'm assuming these were all hills and no LOF blocking terrain other than what the hills allow for. From your description, it sounds like your buddy figured out his AA value pretty soon, it will be interesting to find out why he didn't go with fighter bombas or landa... those seem to be big favorites amongst the local ork fans. I understand this was your buddy's second game and he threw his list together - so that probably had a bit to do with it. I'll be interested to find out how your forward broadside deployment worked out as well as your two cadres of crisis. I know the crisis have been something of a formation you've been eager hoping to make work out in your lists. Hopefully the initiative bump helps them out. Looking forward to the finality. Cheers, |

So the maps are going to take a little bit longer. My girlfriend snapped both bones in her ankle as we left her apartment this morning. Slipped on a patch of ice. She gets surgery in the morning and gets to spend the next few days in the hospital. |

In the morphine induced haze she says to me, "Hey, I'll have lots of time to paint miniatures." Think I'll keep her. ![]() |
