All, Hey all, recovering from the residence move over the hoilidays now and trying to get back online. Life is in complete disarray right now, so please forgive the general absense from the boards for a bit. For what its worth, I hope all had a good holiday season. ![]() CS, So where's the v4.3.3 you were working on over the weekend? ![]() I was hoping to see a nice shiny revised list by now considering your previous comments in the v4.3.2 thread... ![]() Personal Opinion Mode: For what its worth, I think the Tau forum would do good to have a v4.3.3 sooner rather than later. There seems to be lots of general discussion instead of good bat reps and playtest discussion at this point. There seems to be a bit of a lack luster feel on the board right now. Most of that is probably holiday recovery though. I can't help but wonder if there's more to it as well though. I wonder if some of the slow down is due to us not not really having a solid bug free list from where we all thought we were supposed to be since the Tau WIP lists. I think we've continued to make some good progress, but it also seems like we've taken a few steps backwards over recent weeks. I'm hoping to move forward sooner rather than later though and I personally have high hopes for v4.3.3 to get us on track. I've backed off of creating anymore WIP lists as I want to cut over to your master CS maintained list myself - sooner rather than later. However, I'm still waiting for that version where we have an ironed out list to work from. I'm really hoping that version is v4.3.3. Counting on it even! ![]() I think we need to get the group here on solid ground sooner rather than later so we can rally the playtest troops. I think there's quite a bit of question in the air as to which direction you are going to take several things at this point. It would be nice to have a revised list that clearly states where we are at on things like ML, skyray, AX10, etc. Without the direction, I think people may feel like their wasting their time playtesting so better to back off and wait for the next release and see where we are really at vs. putting more test time into something that may be irrelivent. I know there's one person in my group that's starting to feel that way anyway. More importantly, I think people want to see a new vault list. Several circles will not validate playtest until its at least in the vault. Many of us are really looking forward to that hurdle being accomplished in first quarter 2006 at latest, and in January 2006 ideally. Here's to looking forward to the new year, and a new v4.3.3 list! Hoping you can get us there sooner rather than later! Now... ehem... back to unpacking... |

'm definately looking forward to a new list. In fact it'd be cool to have it before my game on Saturday. ![]() I think there's just been a bit of a slow down as peole have bee holidaying it up and haven't been able to play. I only managed to get 1 game of Gangs of Mega-City One in while I was off. but I'll have a battlereport after my game on Saturday. |

Hi Tactica, and thanks for the note. I am, obviously, working on the new list. However, there are still a few issues which need resolving before 4.3.3 is unleashed (the Tiger Shark one being the most obvious). I am unsure whether it would be best at this point to: a. Just make a decision and go with it for playtesting - although this approach has been less than successful in the past! ![]() b. Create a new thread collecting all of the outstanding issues together to focus discussion. c. Keep observing current discussion to see if they work themselves out shortly. I echo your concern about the focus currently. There seems to be a lot of discussion happening and opinions being voiced, with comparitively little playtesting to back the issues up. For example, in the Tiger Shark thread, there are two members who voice an opinion that this craft is marginally overpowered (putting words into their mouths, here!) while the general concensus of EA Tau players is that they dont want it changed. This leaves a difficult issue. I am of the opinion that it could be down-graded a little, but I can the outcry from here. ![]() I think that the state of the list and the attitude for changes at this stage should be altered a little (by me, mostly). I would like to see minimal changes made, and small steps only taken, and these as a direct result of playtest feedback. |

The saddest thing about playtests is that it takes me more time to write up then actually play. Can someone come up with an auto recording system for them? ![]() I'd video and share the videos but I think our connections are not yet up to this ![]() Oh, and its not really putting words in my mouth if I'm one of the two people, however isn't it me Neal, and Honda that reckons they are too much (with differing opinions of solutions). Out of interest what are the outstanding issues? |

CS, Understood on the blanket decisions. Those can work, but should be reserved for desperate situations to get people out of a rut. I recognize the concern with the tiger. I admit that there may be a slight points problem and 2 unit problem for the formation as NH has brought up. I value TRC and NH experience and playtest concerns, I also recognize their biases (as we ALL have them!) and am cautious in responses to some areas of the concern. In the end, the tiger comes down to hard to kill TK weapons that can get anywhere on the field. Ironically, that's what their supposed to be. 1) I've suggested a minor change to the formation - limit it to 1 unit per formation and 25 point increase. I think it has merit, but it does not work to address what may or may not be a TRC raised problem. I'm still not convinced of the issue there. 2) If we are going to allow 2 units to a formation, then we should reduce the TK shots to 1 per unit and make the gun twin-linked. We should also make it (D3) in that case as well. In this case, we should NOT increase the points. I'd personally be OK with either resolve. Looking forward to the updates CS. |

Well, Tactica, if you have a look at the new sticky thread, you'll see a new (wip) edition of a list relating to the Tau Empire for you to have a look at... ...the one with no replies so far *sniff*... But of course, my proper v7 will have to wait for the next Vault upgrade - and possibly some feedback on my new Regimental HQ idea! Gary |

Hi, in the next weeks that come , I?ll give your list a try. By then I will have painted my guards up and running to 5000 Points. So plenty to choose from. So far I know your list, and appreciate it much. Cheers! Steele |

Heckler, Don't know - but good attempt at a summary. Maybe CS could give us some guidance of the 'open items/issues' that hes' undecided on. Nerroth, No worries - I have IG and Tau... I'd like to give your list a try but am still in the middle of a move and attempting to sell the old house - my plate is rather full. The hardest thing for me is my group doesn't recognize 'fan' lists. If its not in the vault, my group tends to dismiss it. They are more openminded about the main tau list as it at least has a version in the vault. They also know we are doing quite a bit of dev here and have seen the WIP lists I worked on and were giving great feedback... so, I have more flexability there. Too bad you can't get JJ or Andy over at SG to get your list in the vault. Might give your list more steam in general. Honda, Fully agree with you on hold up... its MUCH more important to me to keep the development going and getting 'latest' list revisioins out sooner rather than later for people to all stay on the same page. Right now, the updates are not coming as quick as I'd personally like (Sorry CS, I gather you have a lot going on - I mean no disrespect!!). I just don't want people to lose the focus and momentum we've generated and have dedicated to the Tau development. I definitely don't some lingering issues to hold up the next vault list. If we all start doubling over issues that we though resolved or continue to debate things that may have already had a new decision, then what are we doing?? New lists will make sure that we all appreciate the new perspective and overall view of the list. It will make sure we're all on the same page with playtesting. I have 2 games I'm waiting on for a 'no flaws' version of the 4.3.x list. I'm willing to clear off the gaming table and move some boxes to get those games played as I'm itching to beat up on my old Eldar nemisis! ![]() Anyway, fully appreciate the sentiment of - don't hold up the latest version over a couple thumbs. Cheers, |
