Hi! At the moment there is a consierable development of the Tau Commerce Protection Fleet, or Kor'vattra Qath'fannor - i.e. the Forgeworld range of Tau ships - and it seems to me that there would be ample room in the Epic T'au list for one of these ships to act as an orbiting spacecraft. There are four versions of the ships out there so far: *The ship stats available in IA3 - which SG does not accept as official, as they are doing *Their own fleet list, which they had to take down - apparently due to an issue with FW - I'll email it to who wants it, *Ray Bell(a mod and BFG developer at SG)'s own list at http://www.one-end.com/port-maw/forum_v ... .168.0#169 and *The current forum edition of the list, here at http://www.beerbadger.force9.co.uk/Shin ... %20CPF.pdf The fleet lists' discussions are going on over at http://www.specialist-games.com/forum/f ... FORUM_ID=3 Now, there are a few issues up in the air regarding the stats for certain starships, but we can see whether one of the starships on offer may do for the Epic list (at the moment the Custodian seems to be a less controversial starship than the Protector, and as the Custodian is the battleship it wouldn't have to clash with the Hero) So, based on the Custodian's current forum list stats: EDIT - Changing cost to match Imperial BB, potential Tracer missile load in italics TAU OR?ES EL?LEATH ?CUSTODIAN? CLASS BATTLESHIP - 300 points ![]() Experience with the Gal?Leath in combat, particularly against the Gue?la incursion into sovereign Tau space during the Damocles Crusade, demonstrated a number of significant shortcomings that could not be overcome without a radical hull redesign, despite notable advances incorporated into the experimental Bor?kan variant of the venerable Gal?Leath. As the Kor?or?vesh initiative bore fruit with a progressively larger series of completely new and successful hull designs, it was only logical that the next step would be to produce a battleship-class vessel. Early operational tests proved that like the other designs resulting from the Kor?or?vesh initiative, it met or exceeded all objectives required for the new ship. Despite the horrendous costs and resource expenditure involved in building these vessels, a number of Septs adopted the design and produced them in small numbers. For many tau?cyr these ships were held in reserve, and it was quite some time before knowledge of this vessel?s existence became widespread. First encountered by Imperial forces led by Admiral Kotto during the Taros Campaign, the ?Custodian? class and its attendant escorts were a complete surprise to the Imperial fleet. Appreciating the threat this class represented, the battleship A?rho in particular was ruthlessly hunted down and destroyed by Admiral Kotto?s fleet. Subsequently, the Or'es El'leath has taken its place at the core of the Tau Empire's new Commerce Protection Fleets. First off FW certainly understands how to make the Tau look, well, Tau-ish. That and all their designs look like they flow from each other...sigh... About the only thing I was going to comment on is that it seems like the capacity for Mantas, etc. is quite light. If I recall correctly, Mantas and Barracudas come from hanger bays which don't hold just one aircraft but many. I realize that the MMD is a biggie, but I think by only allowing three Mantas, you are assigning them a size equivalent to the...hmm, in the SG list they're called Orca's, I'm not exactly sure what the FW list calls them. Anyway, the point is, I believe the Custodian is quite a large ship/carrier and that it seems like it would have a larger capacity. Now, if you were talking about the Emissary, I think that might make sense as it only has one bay if I recall correctly. Your thoughts? |

The way I judged it was that in BFG, the Lar'shi's launch bays can hold a total of 2 squadrons of attack craft - 2 Mantas, essentially - which is translated into the Epic list as 6 Morays/Orcas and/or 2 Mantas. In contrast, the current forum Custodian can handle 6 squadrons at a time (less than the Explorer, but the Custodian is a more well-rounded ship), hence the equivalent of 6 Mantas, or up to 18 Morays/Orcas. (This is how I wrote it, by the way!) Gary |

Ok, if the numbers add up to you, it just seemed a little light to me. |

The Custodian in the forum list has 6 Mantas it can launch er turn, as opposed to a Hero's 2. Since the Hero in Epic can have 2 Mantas or 6 Morays/Orcas, that means a Custodian would have 6 Mantas or up to 18 Morays/Orcas to match up. I don't see why that is too few... Gary |

I edited the cost to 300, I also added in the Tracer bomvardment - I put it as 8 but it could be 6 if it works out as fairer. Would you like to see the Or'es El'leath in the list? (I'm thinking of putting it in the Gue'senshi list, as well as the missile bombardment, but I'd only do so if the T'au list was going to take either on board) Gary |

I'd like to see some rules for it as my army will operate from one. It's a fleet carrier with large launch bays ideal for leading an invasion of a planet. Orde |

Indeed it is... What do you think of my rules for it? Gary |
