Looking at my list I'm running tomorrow... (rematch against eldar - book eldar, not experimental list)

Anyway, really wishing the Moray could lose slow firing. That's such a waste on this really expensive ship. It makes me always want to go for the 2x Heavy Ion Phalanx.

I think we could lose the slow firing on the railcannon in exchange for droping titan killer d6 down to d3.

Whatcha think?

I just never take the railcannon the way it is right now... I'd like too if it was fixed :)

In fact I find that the railcannon moray is a bit over-specialized to be worth taking in a blind game against a random opponent. Maybe adding auxiliary weapons systems could make it more worth.

Maybe also replace 1 ion phalanx on the ion-moray with these same weapons systems (I can't stop finding this other moray a bit overpowered)

Yes, I agree with baronpiero. The Rail Moray isn?t that useful when you are facing an enemy without proper targets. And slowfiring is somewhat hindering. The secondary Weapons aren?t helping you indeed either. The Ion Moray is self sufficient, maybe somewhat overpowered. I take one each if I don?t know what my opponent is fielding. Reducing the IC Phalanx to 2 times 2 shots and augmenting the secondary ones with something equal powerful ( ok, a bit lesser) would suit it better. But it?s my oppinion.

Cheers!
Steele

Well keep in mind, armies like the eldar have equally powerful formations of superheavies that get the skimmer rule. Our moray's are ALWAYS visible. That's a pretty big hinderence. The Eldar models by comparison get hit and run abilities. We loom and are always seen - never can get out of harms way. I think this has some pretty big drawbacks.

We also have to take two of them to really be formidable. That takes the formation cost up there pretty high. A 3 hit formation just can come under fire too much to make a stand alone formation not worth it.

Our deflector shield is useless against something like a pulsar or a lance too (A GAPING HOLE IN OUR RULES in MY opinion). So we can get hammered by some serious pulse AT shots that are not MW or titankiller and best we get is a 6 to deal with it. (and some of these eldar weapons say you don't get saves unless you have reinforced - but you only get one chance - yet they are not called Macro-weapons)...

In exchange for these weaknesses, I think the ion-phalanx makes the model worth while. If you lose that - the rest of the model just is a waste of points. I agree with the other posters, the auxilary weapons really stink.

Paying for a close combat stat on this thing or 15cm AP shots is just silly in my opionion. This thing 'looms' over a city, how are its 15cm ap guns ever relivent? I think they should be eliminated.

This should be a MW and AT gunboat at long ranges. MW6+ GM just isn't doing it for me.

If it wasn't for the phalanx - these things would collect dust in my army... well, unless like B says - the ion-phalanx is toned down - but the rest of the model is toned up to compensate... can't say it enough - we need more AT.

On the order of slow firing. There's no way I'll take that. Its too hindering on such an expensive formation. I can't afford to pay for what can potentially be one shot in a game. I'd much rather the titan killer go down to TK d3 - and let the thing fire the railcannon every turn. Then I'd start taking one and one in my formations.

Please help rectify JG! :)
