Hi, I was wondering if someone, with access to the original GW/FW Tau vehicles, could help me with some measurements (any unit will do), i.e. length, width and height (without flying stand): Tau Third Phase Hammerhead/Skyray/Devilfish
Tetra Light Skimmer
Piranha Light Skimmer
Barracuda Fighter
Tigershark
Tigershark (AX-1-0)
Orca Dropship
Manta Dropship
Protector Class Cruiser
Custodiam Class Battleship
Vior'La Tau Foce Moray
Razorshark
Sun Shark Bomber
Please also comment if you see any wrong measurements. This would be a great help when sourcing proxie models for Tau. Thank you ![]() |

Just to complicate things, there will be two sets of measurements of each as the dimensions shrunk when FW changed their resin. anyway, in older resin orcas are 74mm long, 50mm across the front engines, 25mm tall (top of tail fin to base of hull, landing gear not counted) baracuda is 35mm long to tip of ion cannon, 38mm wide wing tip to wing tip (not counting burst cannon barrels), 9mm tall wing tip to hull base) tigershawk is 49mm long, 70mm wide, 6mm tall I think you have your manta and tigershark measurements muddled in your list at present. |

Stoiss, I got almost all my stuff in the gaming club EP, you are welcome to take it out and measure it, if you still need some measurements next time you are there. Closet 29 if I remember correct. |

Thank you Coran. ![]() I went down to the club yesterday, and took measurements and photos for reference. Dang... your Tau do not need to put foot on any planet with all those Mantas you have stowed away. ![]() Updated the list in the first post with the measurements from Coran's Tau. Still missing...
Did FW ever produce these or can we guess/estimate how big they should be in 6mm. For instance by using the Manta for reference? Moray: What is the closest comparable Tau vehicle? Razorshark: Sounds like it should be the size of a Tigershark - 51x71x8mm? Sun Shark Bomber: Sounds like it should be a bomber version of the Baracuda - 37x42x10mm? Are we missing any other vehicles? |

Kyrt wrote: No fair, hogging all those mantas Unfortunatly all 3 are failcast to some extent, and 2 of them have the release agent bonded with the Resin ![]() I can get one to look good with enough Green Stuff and the other 2 I hope will look playable at some point. Because of the release agent bonding with the resin, its difficult to get paint to stick, it simply falls or slides off ![]() |

That sounds like the resin didn't mix completely and it causes it to be shiny looking it's called sweaty resin for casters. Did you order those direct? Those sound like recast issues I do t think that would get sent out from forge world. |

Those sound like recast issues I do t think that would get sent out from forge world. All 3 are from Forge World, first one was misscast, so I sent an email with pictures of it and called Forge World and to complain, they sent me a new one, that one was also a bit miscasted and super shiny (sweaty resin as you call it) I went to my local GW shop talked with them and they asked Forge World to send a new one. The 3rd one I got was a good cast, but also shiny, but I did not get around to try to paint it before Forge World shut down the Epic line ![]() |
