Since its been almost a month since the last post in the Tau forum, I'm just wondering if anyone is playing them or are the Tau going the way of the Squats?

not as well as usual, IIRC it was win, loss, winning VPs draw

He placed highly at a couple of big events with them last year however so it's probably just him being a bit rusty.... ;) I've also had a couple of kickings from them too

I'm currently working on a tau force, MikeT has one, I believe Kev101 is working on one, and Yme-loc also (obviously) has a tau force as well, there are undoubtedly others too..... they're getting a fair bit of play on the UK circuit, easily as much as most of the variant lists....

We are coming up for a massive event in the life of Tau; the release of their new army Codex in 40K is just a couple of weeks away now. Along with new units for Epic's 28mm cousin, this will also mean new background, weapons and models.

I'll be doing my best with a new experimental list that will hopefully embrace some of these news units in an epic-friendly manner, but even without that there are enough players who play both systems that there is no way all the Tau fever in 40K can help but spill over into Epic.

Sounds great, Matt-Shadowlord :)
Rumours have the suit railgun being reduced to S8, AP2; I wonder whether this could translate to the Hammerhead Railgun (apparently retitled the 'Railcannon') being upgraded to being AT3+, as it would no longer be restricted by the usual Epic conventions of being related to the twin-linked Railguns on the Broadside?

I've seen quite a few notes that the Hammerheads aren't performing quite as well as players would like, so this might be an opportunity to upgrade them. A formation of six with this upgrade would be more closely comparable to the Leman Russ tanks, which are the obvious comparison – the HH having worse AP and no reinforced armour, but being faster, ignoring terrain and having a deeper AT bite.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the Riptide, too. Good luck! :)

I played a few games with them now and personally I don't enjoy there play style.

It doesn't help that I have never liked the Tau as a 40k race (yes I'm a 40k racist).

I have $$$ worth of tau painted to a great standard that I really don't want.

Since this is a catch-all topic...

I'm planning to make my first Tau list a Fio'ka list. I've been playing Epic:A for a decade, and I have still yet to play a pure tank army! This must be fixed.

Does anybody have any ideas for Scorpionfish models? And how many Hammerheads should I plan on getting? Currently I'm thinking 20, three formations of 6 with the option of beefing one up to be the BTS.
