Hi guys,

I'm looking to get back into epic after a break of nearly 20 years. I used to play orks and eldar but have got into Tau in 40k in the last couple years.

What are people using as crisis suit proxies? I've found dark realm miniatures for fire warriors and I could handle getting a bunch of fw skyrays to sort out the various tanks. I'm drawing blanks on the XV8's and 88's though.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated...

Onslaught Miniatures is a good place to start for proxies. Their OTC line vaguely resembles Tau ( ;D ), though he doesn't have his complete line finished yet, he does have infantry and larger battle-suit types...or will soon.

Thanks for that - they're certainly the best I've seen, some stuff that'd do for kroot too.

And I've always fancied giving tyranids a go...

If you want FW stuff best act quick as they will soon be gone forever.

Nah. You just missed the early one. No doubt more are scheduled soon.

Sorry for resurrecting the topic, but are there any other proxies out for the vehicles as well (except the Onslaught Minis)?

I'm using a whole bunch of DRM Kraytonians. I like the angular look of their skimmers and flyers. The only problem is that I'm struggling to find a good way to convert the ion and fusion weapons for the hammerheads. The tank turret on the airkura light tank is great for a rail gun but I need a different look for those variants. The lizard infantry look good for kroot as well. I'm using andrayada hubris for tetras/pirhanas.

I had planned to do a Tau army with these as Crisis:

These as my Firewarriors/Path Finders

And these as my AVs:

It hasn't gone far since I finished the AVs as Onslaught came out and I managed to get a FW (and F-W ;)) Tau army.

Erm, ok. I would say this thread is useless without google, but seeing as how most people have search engines available to them ::)

In any case, in the interest of spreading information, here's a link to microworld games' DRM kraytonian section:

I have a bunch of infantry but no vehicles..... assuming there was no rush to get them from FW....

I do like the DRM kraytonian vehicles as possible proxies..... although *may* have the opportunity to buy a complete Tau army from my buddy......

@captpiett I meant pics of your painted stuff dude.....

My bad... No painted stuff as of yet. I just bought it all and is still a pile of unassembled metal.

Thanks for the suggestions, in the end I think Ill stick with Onslaught. The closer to the original, the better. :)

Anyone able to provide the dimensions for the Manta? I'm thinking of getting a proxy for it but I wanted to make sure it's appropriately sized. Thanks!
