OK a new version of the Tau Farsight Enclave army list.

Not too many changes, just made some of the armour choices quite rare and changed a few points costs here or there by 25pts.

There's a new Mini-Codex (as GW have started doing) for the Farsight Enclaves:

Just a note to say Simulated Knave is taking over development of the Tau Farsight list.

Thanks, yme-loc. :)

Indeed!

Current plan: wait for Enclave supplement. Review list.

Anyone have any comments or concerns or feedback on the list as it stands in the meantime?

Some pages from the Farsight book can be seen online. The art is particularly good. http://www.3plusplus.net/2013/07/farsig ... tau-codex/

The Farsight Enclaves thing seems to be that they can field entire armies of battlesuits, nothing new to us but apparently 40k Tau can't. Spies/friends within the Empire send them plans so they can make new things like the Riptide too.

I'm going to be interested to read the background from this. The hints about Farsight from the previous codexes (found a strange ancient weapon that changed him, liked CC, 8 strong bodyguard) were what was speculated - he's been tainted by Khorne and has lost faith in the Ethereals (wonder if he killed the ones with his exedition or if Chaos dd). Other background revealed the Ethereals total control over other Tau was due to implanted psychic crystals with the Eldar being behind it all (presumably as Tau make more civilised neighbours than tyranids, necrons or chaos), so you can imagine he could be a bit cross with them.

hey read over your list and I must say, as a budding epic Tau player I feel like the XV8's need to have some ranged weapons. Its not like the faresight enclaves fight solely close combat. also what happened to the Tetra? I think they are a valid chose for the farsight enclaves army list and would not make it OP in no way shape or form.
But I must admit that, I have not tried your list yet, but will do this coming week. Also I have read the new farsight codex and there are some interesting things that could be added to the list. Such as a chose of broadside weapons? Riptide (warengine) ?

At the end of the day it's a AWESOME list! and cant wait to play test it.

By ranged weapons do you actually mean longer-ranged weapons? Their weapons profile is as follows:
Twin Burst Cannons 15cm AP5+ -
Twin Tau Flamers (15cm) (Small Arms) Ignore Cover
Twin Fusion Blasters 15cm MW4+ -

@yme-loc - How has this army performed against opponents with large amounts of air power? I've not tried the Farsight list yet, but comparing it to other Tau lists the fact that Skyrays can only be taken as a dedicated formation of 3 seems like it could be a real disadvantage.
By comparison, along with the formation of 3 skyrays, the Third phase expansion list has skyrays as an option to join Firewarriors and an option to bury one in a formation of hammerheads. The Vior'la list doesn't allow them to join Firewarriors, but does allow one to attach to hammerheads.

The list was designed to have quite a few weaknesses, although lack of access to tech is mostly for background reasons. The list hasn't really seen enough testing or play to comment on if it was too much of a weakness.

To be fair the list will probably be changing a fair amount in the near future based on more up to date Farsight 40K releases.

Will the railgun changes from the main lists also filter down to this list?

Will this list get access to Riptides? From the newer fluff it seems that they have it.

Just wondering if anyone has been working on this list and what the latest status of it is. Thanks!

Not really sorry. Someone expressed interest in updating the list to be in line with more recent background for the Farsight Enclave but nothing really came of it.

Alright, well, if no one objects I might start tinkering around with it. Try and breath some life back into the concept.
