Played a game last night, didn't take any photos sorry.

Nor did we make a detailed battle report, or even manage to finish the game, as it reached 9pm and we wanted to head out for the evening.

Still, I can relate that we've played a 6.31 game. :-)

At the end of turn 3, my Orks were in a very strong position but we were drawing on objectives 1-0 (I'd taken BTS), but we didn't have time for a turn 4, so we checked which formations rallied and did some quick theoryhammer. I won the roll-off for first order on turn 4 and it looked like turn 4 would be a 3-0 victory to me, with a chance at 4-0.

Ryan hadn't actually played against Orks before, as despite there being a couple of Ork players down at the Euston club he's somehow managed never to play against their greenskin armies, so I think he made a few tactical mistakes that led to his loss. This was my first game playing with Orks, but I think I didn't make any huge mistakes and played okay.

===========

The major thing that came out of the game is that, despite Ryan taking no Spacecraft in his army list, we decided in discussion that the Custodian Class Battleship is a clear downgrade from the Hero Class Cruiser, as despite it costing 50pts more its attacks are less powerful and its extra transport capacity is entirely unnessesary unless you're playing a 10,000pt game.

Thanks for the report, would it be possible to get an idea of the army lists used.

The Custodian is like most of the big spaceships more for scenario stuff in my opinion, just slow and steady alone makes most worthless from a competitive game perspective (Eldar Dragonship and a couple of Battlebarge builds aside).

There's no reason not to drop its points cost to 200 points though, IMO.

Ok, off topic for Tau for a moment

Come on, Great Gargant! You know you want to, its actually possible to destroy the smaller gargant!

Why not 7/1, want to borrow a skorcha?

The big guns I find are best in either medium mob and 2 supers or small with one zap.

Why not have the 2/1/1 format with both blitz? otherwise one is asking for a blast marker. Also a big blitz with 2 suppers is fantastic, with its speed and range it hits stuff other orks can only dream of.

Landa

No extra orks and grots for the mob that goes in? Its a battle proven upgrade!

I'll paint a Great Gargant in time. But not yet. :-)

I only own 6. I'll haunt eBay for a while, rather than borrowing one of yours temporarily.

I like the single supa, it seems like an overwatch garrison that'll cause pause but doesn't cost the earth. The Zappas I want to use aggressively though so they're on the trukks.

Maybe I am. :-)

I wanted a decent number of activations.

Again, I'd have to drop down to 10 activations to take some upgrades elsewhere.
I'd have loved to put a Dreadnought in the Landa because I think it'd look cool, but just couldn't find the points.

Actually the Blitz Brigade with three Flakwagonz and an Oddboy Zzapp Gunwagon are used a lot by my fellow Ork players here (We call them Baby Blitz Brigades)

They soak up an activation, always handy, don't have to close with the enemy because of the Zzap Guns range, and are great for putting an extra BM or two on an enemy formation you want to assault. Shooting at the Baby Blitz Brigade when two or three Big/Uge Warbands are bearing down on your troops is a waste of firepower cause those Warbands WILL duff you up if you don't wear em down a bit before closing. Most of all they scare the hell out of enemy War Engines, all for 200points!

Cheers all

Jaldon: His point was that if the Blitz Brigade was 2x Flak, 1x Gun, and 1x Oddboy, then it could take 1 BM and still have a range of 45cm for the Oddboy. Not that it's a useless formation.
