After a long process of thought and some difficult decisions, I have decided to step down from the role of AC for the Tau in EA. This is a sad day for me, as it is a force that I feel strongly about and really do enjoy, and I feel that I have put a lot into.

However, it has become clear to me that the list that I feel represents the force in Epic will not emerge through this current process. Perhaps this means that my views are the firm minority. Perhaps my views mean that a final list is unlikely to emerge as a concensus for the list. Either way, it is best for both the Tau playing community, and my own enjoyment, that I do not continue.

Even if some resolution miraculously appears, this list will not be the one that I will be able to play in any tournaments in my country - being in the UK - and although I strongly doubt that GW will return to Epic (and have even stronger doubts that I will be supporting them if they do) it is clear that any resulting list here will not get any official GW stamp. This all calls into question the validity of further struggle.

I have to admit that I am largely pessimistic about the future of the game and its ongoing fragmentation, although I will of course do what I can to disprove my own pessimism.

I will hand the reigns of this list over to Honda in its entirity, although I will continue to visit this board and act as advisor to Honda whenever he asks and I will continue to play, paint, talk about and be enthusiastic about the Tau in Epic - all of which would be in danger if I continue as AC.

I hope that this will enable me to have more time for other projects, such as Hostile Stars, the Genestealer Cult in EA, my Crucible of Champions Epic warband system and too many others.

I have faith that Honda will steer this list and wanted to thank everyone who has contributed to the very interesting discussions. It has been a real learning experience.

Thanks.

Thanks for your stewardship of the Tau list Iain, it's always a danger to spread your efforts too thin, and it's quite understandable that you want to stand down.

I've always seen you as a strong and decisive rules developer and look forwards to seeing what you do going forwards... and any time you want to roll some dice in a game of Epic, I'd love to lose to you!

Thanks for all the hard work.

Trying to make a list to please everyone and get a GW stamp of approval while taking everyones opinions into account is a mamoth effort.

My thoughts are on just making up a nicely formatted army book with shared unit descriptions and multiple options of the army lists included (E&Cs, Hondas, A list including any missing units and an armoured company).  If I get permission to use the art I want to include I'll make the formated version available.  The project has been worked on mostly for use at home so far.

E&Cs, Hondas

My list was a proposal for evaluation by the community, at the request of the army champion.
I will not sanction its distribution alongside, or in competition to, the ERC list.
The E series of list proposals is now retired and should be considered defunct.

'Honda's' list is the ERC list, not his personal list.
As far as I am concerned the ERC list is the only Tau army list in development on these boards at this time.

I hope I've made myself clear.

Cya CS and thanks.

Now, I don't want to hijack this thread but it needs to be said

The trouble is E&C is that your list is out there. Some may want to use it, some may not. If Mark wants to put all the lists into one book format that's his prerogative. And again, some may want a copy of it some may not.

We understand you don't want to rock the boat in terms of stepping on Honda's toes. You just need to realise that you have contributed to an alternate list design that some may find works best. I, for one, am in that category right now but I'm open minded about 6.X and am looking forward to seeing whether it will cut it or not.
